Sure, the movie kind of sucked, but for that ONE SCENE that you're totally gonna go look up on youtube!

Example:
The Lone Ranger (That Johnny Depth one).

There's a whole scene towards the end that uses the William Tell Overture expertly.
The film as a whole, was pretty bad.

But just about everything from the start of the William Tell Overture to it's end was fantastic to see.

The battle for Klendathu and the Whiskey Outpost attack from the movie Starship Troopers.

The rest of the movie was 20 somethings pretending to be teens, soldiers or pilots, meme fodder, really stupid tactics, propaganda, strategy, and just in general a moronic humanity.

Hence why I prefer the animated series, at least you don't feel like cheering when the bugs start eviscerating the fucktards.

The two battles are almost worth it though.

The "Human Torch chasing Silver Surfer" bit of FF2. That was awesome. The film was not.

"The Crystal Key" was a pretty poor game, really. Lots of potential, with almost none of it realized.

...except that one scene where you get kidnapped. That sequence was intense, frightening, and atmospheric beyond belief.

Also, while I HAAAAAAAAATE "Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness" more than is really necessary, even I have to admit that the opening sequence where Lara flees from the police was actually a pretty awesome setup.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

The final combat sequence, when Shao Khan is shocked that he is bleeding, and he looks to his father in confusion, asking "How can this be?!?"

And his father says "I told you there would be consequences for breaking the sacred rules!"

Then the other Elder Gods fly in and imprison him in magic, and then say in a deep, resonant voice.

"In the end, it shall be decided as it always has been, in...*cue the awesome theme music* MORTAL KOMBAAAAT!" *cue dance beat and ass kicking*

Loved that bit. Because it reinforced the Earth Realm's mandate, which is to take Earth Realm, you do it by Earth Realm's rules.

Also, now that I think about it, the first Mortal Kombat movie, all the scenes with Raiden, as he is trying to explain to the combatants that the Mortal Kombat tournament is a level playing field. That no matter who the crazy mystic being is that tries to take the Earth Realm, he has to do it on Earth Realm's rules which means a mortal fight to the death.

Also when they have that 3 way fight with the mooks, and are talking after the fight, and Johnny Cage says "Look, we're standing...they're not...what more do you want?" And Raiden does the slow clap, and says "Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant." At first glance, it comes across as him being sarcastic, or condescending, but over time, I think he was being absolutely sincere. He was trying to get the point across to them, what the fight was, and Johnny was the one who got it. You fight, one wins, one loses. The other's didn't really understand that, but Johnny did, and he was proud of him for it. I always enjoyed that bit

I would say Tremors.

It was a fun movie at the time but doesn't really hold up anymore. However, the rec room scene was awesome. The survivors on top of the building go from desperately warning their survivalist friends, to downtrodden because they were too late, and then the gunfire starts...

There's a scene in the Dolph Ludgren Punisher where a nanny gets shot through the teddy bear she's holding infront of a bunch of kids. I totally didn't see that coming and it was awesome. Too bad the rest of the movie couldn't be that sweet. Still better than the Thomas Jane one though.

Maybe the "final test" scene in Ender's Game but in saying so the battle wasn't all that impressive since it's more of a zerg rush sort of battle. I need to think more about this.

The Magneto vs. Moving prison and Magneto vs. Giant ass bridge scenes in X men: The Last Stand.

Horrible movie but god damn, for an aging, quite frail looking man, Ian Mckellan can still be intimidating and awesome as fuck.

House 2: The Second Story most of the film is painful to watch, but there's a fifteen minute segment right in the middle-- from when the electrician shows up at the door to when he leaves, handing his business card to the utterly forgettable/forgotten protagonist-- that is sheer brilliance.
Frequently tempted to buy the movie just for those fifteen minutes...

Yeah, I remember seeing that movie in the theater. And while I personally enjoyed it as a snarky joke movie about naziism and stuff with the tone, that opening "news footage" from the front lines was pretty intense in the theater. Seeing everyone getting killed, including potentially the main character. I remember thinking "Oh, is this going to be a flashback movie to how he dies in the final desperate battle?"

Also, I really liked the tension of that drop sequence. As they release all those dropships with the troopers in them, with the music playing as they start to break into atmosphere, with the barrage of artillery fire coming up at them....definitely a good scene.

I disagree with you on it being a bad movie, but I whole heartedley agree with your opinion on those scenes xD

The final scene from "Cabin Fever". I didn't like the movie at all, but that scene was absolutely hilarious.

Pacific Rim. Definitely not a bad movie, but I thought it was pretty mediocre. Anyway, the opening sequence (where they brought you up to date on the history of the rift and the Kaiju and the Jaegers) I thought was really, really well done.

Blade 2. Again, I thought it was mediocre (the action sequences had way too much CGI that wasn't very good) but the Reapers, with their weird mouths that opened up, were awesome.

Amazing Spider Man 2 was awful.

But those bits with Electro and the music? I thought that was kind of cool.

The opening web-slinging and action scene wasn't half bad either.

Say what you will about Bioshock 2, but the bit where you

play through the eyes of a Little Sister

was glorious.

As for something that's not a game. I was really unenthusiastic about the prospect of an Evil Dead reboot, and for the most part my suspicions were accurate. But, the entire final sequence almost, almost makes it all worth it.

The part near the end of World War Z where they're having to quietly sneak around the zombies and it actually felt tense and exciting, instead of boring like the rest of the film.

The Phantom Menace. The duel between Darth Maul and Qui Gon Gin and Obi Wan. For that one glorious set piece Star Wars lived anew. The amazing John Williams score sent shivers down our spines as we saw the characters finally going all out and showing some emotion. Shame it was only for that one sequence. The rest of the movie? A burning bag of dog poop left on the doorstep.

The battle of Geonosis in Star Wars: Episode II, I would say. The rest of the film is fairly poor.

The Loki scene, where he's being escorted by Thor, in Thor 2.

It has one of the few funny lines in a movie that otherwise, has nothing that matters going on in it.

The movie Skyline, for all of its horrendous dialogue, unlikable characters, and generic alien designs, had a fantastic ending sequence that mostly played out through the first part of the ending credits. It was a stupid movie, but that ending nearly pushed it into greatness.

The aliens use human brains as computers at the heart of their technology, but when the lead 'hero' gets his brain implanted in one of the robots he takes control and sets out to rescue his girlfriend. What follows is a brief montage showing him kicking all kinds of ass and saving the damsel.

I can't think of any others off the top of my head that had quite the same impact. However, I did like the fight towards the end of Ang Lee's Hulk where big greenie was fighting his energy absorbing dad in the clouds. Most comics have enemies that can be physically beaten, and the idea of the hulk getting more and more angry because he can't touch the villain still amuses me. It still wasn't really ideal for a big climactic final battle, but I thought it worked well enough within the framework of the rest of the film.
