Gore Verbinski To Deliver D.I.C.E. Keynote

D.I.C.E. Summit [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325980/].

The 2008 D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit takes place this year from February 6-8 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference features top-level industry figures delivering seminars and lectures in "an unparalleled opportunity to meet and network with the industry's leaders." According to a Develop [http://www.developmag.com/news/29014/Pirates-of-the-Caribbean-director-talks-gamemovie-crossover-at-DICE]magazine report, Verbinski will speak about "how some of the foundations of successful filmmaking can be used to expand the ways that videogames entertain consumers."

"As the collision between film, gaming, internet and animation occurs, we're witnessing the birth of new forms of narrative," Verbinski said. "Sharing ideas and experiences at the point of impact is the only way to ensure that the new opportunities remain fluid. With initial success, the arteries harden. The business model forces the creative landscape into a narrowing perspective where we tend to create followers instead of innovators. I'm interested in developing a collaboration that will widen that field of view."

Other speakers at this year's event include John Riccitiello of www.dicesummit.org [http://www.ea.com].
