Okay, I recently got a hard drive that I could insert so I could install the expansions for Oblivion, and I found out that with 1 of them, the Shivering Isles expansion, it supposingly begins with you starting it's main quest with finding some 'strange door' east of Bravil, but you have to wait either 3 in-game hours or 3 in-game days, so I waited 3 in-game days, then I swan around the Niben bay looking for that strange door, but I can't find it anywhere.

any idea if I was doing something wrong? or if there might be a problem with the expansion disc? or something?

You get told by a quest being added to your log, just play the game normally for a while and it will eventually show itself. If not, then remove it & reinstall (though I'd wait for a a bit before doing that, show a little patience).

Forgive me for sounding like a "point out the obvious" nob hat, but have you gone into data files and ticked it to make sure the game actually runs it?

I'd reinstall it. Also, to avoid swimming around the bay looking for it, you will get a pop-up notification that a "strange door" showed up in the area.

you guys saying I can't just press the select button to wait and let the door pop in?

geez, this game does have a reputation for being long, in more ways than one it seems.

You can just wait.

When you start the game does it check for Expansion pack content? (It asks you to wait before you select Load Game, New Game, Continue, ect)
