A poster on another thread said they would like to see more movies where the bad guys win. I fired back that that describes the Star Wars prequels, cinematic abominations famous for ruining a gargantuan franchise. The more I think about it, the more I have to agree that it would be really great to see bad guys, villains, anti heroes win in the end.

What movies have you loved that had the bad guys come out on top?

I don't know any where the villains win...the closest I can think of are film noir, where the hero fails at pretty much everything and dies. Then nobody wins.

I can't think of any. :/ But in the majority of kids' movies I've seen I remember I was always rooting for the bad guys, because they were so much more fun and interesting. Scar is always my example-I'd love an alternate Lion King ending where he and the hyenas come out on top.

Just mah thang.

A Scanner Darkly, but YMMV on weather the people are "bad guys". It's pretty gray and everyone's an ass.

Seven. The only one I can think of where the bad guy really wins. Sure, he got killed, yet he won since that was exactly what he wanted.

Cannot really think of any other movies right now... I will follow this thread closely, since I too want to see more movies where the bad guy actually wins.

Technically, the fact that you listed Se7en in a thread with "bad guys win" in the title is a spoiler in itself.

well, I can't think of any *great* movies, but a decent one would be The Dark Knight.

Lord of war, the protagonist is the bad guy :)
Don't hear about it anymore though, I thought it was awesome.

Dr. Horrible's Sing A long Blog.

Although you could have a serious discussion about who the good or bad guys really are. Or about who actually won in the end.

I know. I was thinking about it for a minute, what to do. Decided to spoiler it like that. At least I don't spoil how the bad guy wins by doing it that way. I dunno. Either way, if anyone becomes angry because of spoilers in this thread, then they have a problem.

Oh, and your avatar... can it be said that the bad guy wins in Fight Club?

No Country for Old Men; There Will be Blood; Cool Hand Luke (kinda) and there are a couple more. But even in movies when the bad guys "win," the movie does tell us that our hero gains the moral victory---which to them is all that matters.

It's pretty much a lose-lose situation for our villains. Although I was rooting for Gerrard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen.

I thought the title said "Great" movies where the bad guy wins. OH SNAP!

Truth be told though, I thought the first Saw was really good.
