Hello again Escapist.

Tell me your experience with the cops in GTA V compared to GTA IV. Are they the same, is one less tactical than the other, or which is more ruthless when it's at the highest star rating? For me the random pursuits they have in GTA V is just fun and out of control cause the ones being chased just fight back hard.

So let me know on which you prefer and what you think so far.

LSPD seem to have had an AI upgrade. Hiding up on a place only accessible from and only visible by ladder is not a get out of jail free card. They will explore your last seen location, and search above ground.

Their chases are rather more dangerous, but you can smash their cars over the side of the highway to devastating effect.

I am loving the upgrade cause it makes you become a bit more tactical and stealing from that army base is some dangerous risky shit.

They seem a lot smarter than before, I noticed i had a lot more trouble hiding down back streets and such this time than before, they really comb the streets of your last known area, when you "go dark" moving out of the area they saw you last is the only way to really win.

Haven't played 5 yet, but the cops in GTA4 were a huge downgrade over the 'super-cops' from previous games in the series.

Unlike the cops in GTA:SA, they don't use motorcycles. And unlike the cops in GTA:VC, they don't throw out spike-strips.

Also, any heat level is pathetically easy to lose in GTA4, - just drive your car or bike down into the subway system, and drive around the subway track circuit for a bit, until you escape the search radius.
The cops can't see you down there, so they give up the chase.

Does GTA5 have an underground subway system? Because if it doesn't, that alone will make the cops harder to escape than the cops in the previous game.
GTA V does have subways, but I've had cops follow me down there for a long time on several occasions. Still, it's often a pretty easy way to lose them. Then again, out in the country you can forget about that trick. :)

I'd say the GTA V cops are a big upgrade. They're tactical and really pack a punch. They force you to think before you act, because you can't be sure that you can get away with it.

I don't know about subways, but it's got a tunnel system.

What bugs me is they don't seem to need to climb or even have line of site to find you up a building.

By contrast, I've hidden from cops around a freaking corner and they'll walk by.
