Now I'm a Marvel fan, I'm not going to pretend otherwise, but this movie seems like it's trying to reproduce the magic of The Avengers with a team of heroes in what will probably be the most 'out there' comic movie made in recent history.
Now don't get me wrong, I want it to work. I want it to be awesome and Rocket Raccoon is enough to sell me the concept as a movie, but this could easily be a disaster (Iron Man 2 showed how bad things can get) and I really want it to work.
Like the idea or not though, at the end of the day Guardians may be the riskiest comic book movie ever made, more so then even the Avengers, which had 5 movies to build a fan base for what where at worst B list heroes, while Guardians is at best a C list hero team (though recently in both the comics and animated series they have been showing up more and more, and probably not by coincidence).
I want this to work, and given Marvel's movie making machine and backed by Disney it probably will, but what are your thoughts?
