I like the Halo games, and would probaly place them NEAR the top if I wrote such a list, but best? No, I think there are better ones (eg Assassins Creed). Still, it could have gone to worse series...
OT: Not buying that for sure, even if I found it in the UK, I'd read it once before it went on a bookshelf and started gathering dust. Same as the normal World Record books, in other words.

Halo Number One game series? Ugh. I'm not trying to start a hate campaign against it, but surely even its most loyal fans can acknowledge it doesn't have a place in that spot.

I mean, Halo 1 was average but the best of the series, and the third was basically built around multiplayer (never played Halo 2).

Wow so "Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer's Edition Now Available" wasn't a good title, and got replaced by "Guinness Readers Say Halo Number One Series Ever". Surely because it was a more appropriate article summary and not just to get more clicks. Oh, wait, the bit about Halo is just one line in parentheses in the article. I guess it was the clicks.

Really.... Really!?! I played the main three and unless I missed something in the multiplayer or the game gave heroin and handjobs to everyone but me I can't understand how this was voted the #1 series ever.

Wow.... I might have guessed there'd be a lot of bashing of Halo on this topic. It's just a popular vote. Halo is a popular franchise and needless to say it got a lot of votes. I'm not saying it's a picture perfect series but to be perfectly honest such a series does not exist. It won't appeal to everyone (I have no problem with people merely not liking Halo, I'm actually friends with a few of them) but it obviously appealed to enough people to make it earn some kind of mention.

As it stands, I myself am a massive Halo fanboy but when it comes down to crunch time I can still think of other franchises that deserved the rights just as equally to be voted. Mario, Silent Hill, Half Life etc. However what got voted got voted, people like Halo. This does not mean they are 'retarded' or 'blinded by the mainstream'. This just means that Halo is a popular thing, this is a factor that is undeniable. And again it being popular is not, I repeat not a bad thing, it's just how things are. It's hardly the first franchise ever to be overhyped and overloved by a mainstream audience and it certainly will not be the last. In fact when it comes right down to it, there wouldn't BE a game industry without overloved and popular franchises.
So while I don't understand why Mario did not win this one, in the end it all comes down to people voting their favourite franchise and it just happens to be Halo, end of story. I personally think it deserves a spot on the list, maybe at number five but perhaps number one is too high, regardless I can respect that a popular franchise got the popular vote.

As for the book, well it is interesting to see some of the records broken by the game industry but at the end of the day I'm not so sure I'd get it given my house is already flowing with books and I never get enough time to read them.

P.S final disclaimer: As I said before I have no problem with those who simply do not like Halo, I am not trying to come across as a tyrannical fanboy rather as a person vocalising a detailed point and I apologise if I seem a little harsh.

P.P.S in case I hadn't made it clear enough before I am opposed to the idea of Halo being number one, it should be in a top ten no question but number one is waaaay too steep.
