As i type this ( on my iphone) i am at the shopping mall waiting on me girlfriend who is trying on clothes , and i am BORED out of my mind . While i sit outside the store i see 5 guys around me doing the same ,waiting. So my question is , do you Enjoy going shopping with your girlfriend. If not do you think anyone does? I only agree to go shopping with my gf because it makes her happy ,so i grit my teeth and bare it even though i rather be doing anything else. Does this happen to anyone else here on te escapists? Do you you enjoy going shopping WITH you girlfriend? Is there anyway to make this enjoyable?

It isn't the most fun thing we could do, but I don't mind it. I always have fun when me and my gf hang out, so shopping isn't that boring.

HELL. NO.

Whenever I go shopping, I tend to go for a specific thing. For example, I need a pair of jeans for work. That's what I'm here for, and that's what I'm getting.

My girlfriend looks at and tries on EVERYTHING. Drives me crazy.

As a girl, I wouldn't take a boyfriend shopping unless he really wanted to. Honestly, I don't particularly enjoy shopping anyway so wouldn't drag someone else around, but if I did enjoy it, well...surely that's what my female friends are for? I'm all for doing things together as a couple but, something as boring as shopping...come on.

Pretty much this, shopping is just hanging out, chatting and stuff, she just disappears every so often to try things on, then thats when the phone comes out :p

I don't have a girlfriend, but short of it being a computer or gaming shop, I wouldn't. I'm all about deciding what I want to get before I do, getting in and getting out. There's too much of the social interactions stuff for me to enjoy shopping, and I'm not a fan of indecisiveness.

P.S. (Addressed to the OP) Please do not make threads that presume that people have significant others. Address the subject in such a way that it covers all possibilities, including people who do not currently have a significant other, or those who have never (and possibly will never) have one.
Well i'm not assuming anything , my question is for those who DO have significant others , im not asking if you like shopping,i'm asking if you like shopping WITH your significant other . It's a non-negotiable question , and it's also soley for the men hence the "guys" in the title.

Why are you standing there while she does it if you don't like it? Does she get angry if you show an interest in something else?

If I do have to go shopping for clothes and have to try them on, (which I don't particularly like to do, but is sometimes necessary) and my Husband wanted to come along to the store/mall/whatever - he will say, "Text me when you are done." and then take off to go look at the magazines or whatever the hell he wants to look at. I really don't expect him to stand there the entire time, staring at the ceiling or his toes. If I did expect that, that is a bit demanding and selfish.

I usually just grab what I need (try it on if I have to), pay, text him and then we leave.

I went shopping once with the last girl I dated (never anyone before her). I actually really enjoyed myself.

Sure, the waiting around while she tried things on (especially in the Victoria's Secret... Oh god... I've never been more happy of the fact that I can buy my underwear in packs of five), but I really loved spending that time with her. Walking through the mall, holding her hand, it was just a good time, for me. Maybe I'm the odd-man-out here though...

I always loved going shopping with any of my old girlfriends, or just random girls I know. That could be because I tend to shop with them, instead of just sitting around wishing I were somewhere else.

I'm fine shoping with girlfriends, or really just girls who are friends. I don't see any problem with it.

The question is clearly aimed at people who have a partner, so if you don't then he wasn't asking you. It's one of those occasions where (perhaps this wouldn't apply to you specifically) you don't really know whether or not you'd enjoy it unless you had experienced it yourself. As I will explain in just a sec.

OT: I thought I'd hate it, but I honestly don't mind. The only part I find annoying is the look of pure, unadulterated hate I receive when I can say nothing other than "You look great in that!" at every item of clothing.

I've gone shopping with my sister a few times, I find it pretty enjoyable. It's a nice way to turn "stuff that needs to get done" into "bonding time". Sometimes I find something I want and/or need.

My ankles get mad at me if I spend too much time walking around a mall though. :(

I know I am female and my opinion will not truely be appreciated but here it is anyway. The only time I drag my boyfriend shopping is if I desperately need something and require a lift or if we are shopping for presents. I know he doesn't really enjoy it so i try not to drag it out, just look for what I want, get it and go. Although I do try and make it up to him by buying lunch.

My girlfriend and I go grocery shopping, clothes shopping, shoe shopping, game shopping, book shopping, you name it shopping all the time. I absolutely love it. I mean, if I can't enjoy the time I spend with her then why am I with her, you know?

And honestly, I take a bit longer shopping than she. She's very practical, to the point. I'm a bit more vain, ha ha. :)

My tip would either be learn to love it or just stop doing it. Tell her to go with friends. He honest with her. If you need to force yourself to lie then you're doing something wrong.

Or at least compromise. If you shop with her, she does something with you.

Nah, not really, but it's not that bad. I make a point of being just as bad when I shop, so it evens out.

That's exactly the problem. As far as I'm concerned, these are not appropriate questions for these forums. They have little discussion value, and would be better served as a question/complaint to your male friends in meatspace.
You realise that this thread is posted in the Off Topic Discussions section of the forums, right? that's because the discussion is not related to anything that this site reports on. If you don't want to see threads of this nature, then feel free to leave this section alone.
