H.P. Lovecraft Teaching Sex Ed is, Well, Terrifying

Did you know we all have slimy beasts crawling around inside us?

Sex education in middle school is alternately boring as hell, scary, and occasionally hysterical (provided you've got teacher who is either really old or has a crazy foreign accent). However, it's never really been outright terrifying. That said, a new short film shows just how messed up the class could be if it were taught by H.P. Lovecraft.

"Late Bloomer" by Craig Macneill is a short film takes the normal scenario of teaching kids about sex and reproductive organs and presents it in the narrative style of Lovecraft's various horror stories. Needless to say, the movie is one of the funniest (or horrifying, depending on your perspective) takes on sex ed you're likely to watch.

The movie was apparently an official selection at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. It also won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Lake Placid Film Festival, and was named Best Short Film at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival.

At the moment, Macneill doesn't have too many films listed on his résumé. Hopefully, though, the director will eventually be able to tackle a full-fledged Cthulhu project. Or, y'know, do another short like this one.

um...

thats... well... i think disturbing and terrifying are perfect for describing it...

what is even more frightening to think is that this has more an impact than a 2 hour long horror movie released these days.

Sex-Education at primary consisted of a woman coming in and drawing her genitals on her dungarees in white chalk. That vid just brought all the emotional scars right back - terrifyingly similar.

The narrator sounded like Christopher Walken trying to be Vincent Price, but still couldn't distract me from the pulsating Fell Uterus. My eyes will never feel clean again

Agreed, haven't been this disturbed watching some movie in ages.

Also a fine way to alienate friends by mailing this to them.

That was, what's the proper word here... Disturbed works, but it's only a part of it. Disturbed Genius, if there is a word for that, then that was it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try and halt the narrators voice uttering every word within my mind as I desperately attempt to type my responses to my own will...

So not working yet...
