The ohter night i was struck by a small and unimportant plot hole in half life 2, that i could not come up with a feasable explanation for, and here it is.
How does doctor Kleiner obtain your old hazard suit?
When the G-man takes you into stasis I assume your HEV suit comes too, so why Kleiner have it? I did initally explain this away by thinking that its a different suit, but how common would they be after the combine invasion, and Kleiner says "I see your suit still fits you like a glove, at least the glove parts do", suggesting that it is the same suit as before.

Your veiw?

How has this not been noticed before? Very observant of you. To answer the OP...

Could the G-Man have given the suit to Kleiner whilst Gordon was in "stasis"?

Maybe there was tons of Hazard Suits left from BM.

The "Your old suit" line might refer to the old Hazard Suit the Black Mesa researchers used. There was plenty of people using the same suit in the Xen levels.

The surely Kleiner would of mentioned it? Eli seems to know about the G-man and warns Kleiner off using the Borlieis, if Kleiner knew about him too then he would of seen reason.

Here is another one that I was actually discussing with someone else from the office yesterday, what's Gordan's motivation for doing anything that he does in Half Life 2? Half Life had a pretty clear goal, get the hell out of Dodge, but Half Life 2 you just show up and start helping with very little reason to do so. G-Man drops you in a train and I guess if you suddenly appeared on a train and didn't have anything else to do...

If the suit is a brand new one, what happens to your old one?
At the end of HL1, G-Man says Gordon earned the right to keep it. When HL2 starts Gordon showing up with the suit in the city would be weird, so G-Man disposed of it and dressed Gordon as a City 17 civilian.

Well waking up in a strange world does that to you. The first familiar face Gordon sees is Barney. Barney says to go meet kleiner and Eli, so most of HL2 is trying to meet up with the people that can help you.

Uhm .. Well. It could be the fact that the combine are taking over everything, and everyone is encouraging Gordon to stop it?
I mean, I don't know with Gordon, but if I were in that situation .. And everyone were cheering me ahead. I would do anything in my power to stop the combine. And being Gordon, that power is impressive

There was (a lot) more than one suit, I just assumed it was another one and 'your' was just a familiar term. But your right, it is a bit odd that Kleiner would have a hazard suit waiting for you.

Of course, being a Black Mesa scientist himself he may have also used (or made Barney use) it in his more involved experiments. Now there's a mental image.

That, and at the end of HL 1 Gordon becomes the employee, if you will, of the G-man.

As to the OP: I don't think it's unreasonable to think that the G-man would have left the suit for Kleiner to discover, or perhaps given it to him. Eli knew the G-man, it's not that far fetched to think that Kleiner would too.

@TC: G-man, "Half Life's wizard" did it.

"Would you kindly"

In BM, scientists and Breen tell him where to go and what to do.
In HL2, Barney, Kleiner and Alyx tell him where to go and what to do.

I believe they're different suits. The one used in HL1 is the Mark IV; my memory is fuzzy but I believe the one in Kleiner's lab is a Mark VI (I think it's written on a clipboard near his desk).

I'd take a look for you but I don't have HL2 installed at the moment.

Not neccessarily, though. You can choose not to. With dire consequences

Didn't Valve retcon it with HL2 final speech?

"Rather than giving you the ilusion of choise bla bla bla"
