Halo 3 Pre-orders Top 1 Million
Now that over a million units have been preordered, soft drinks, cars and concerts all team with Microsoft to market Halo 3's impending debut.
Microsoft has announced that the preorders for the finale to the Xbox 360's flagship franchise, Halo 3, have eclipsed the million unit mark. A series of marketing campaigns will start in the upcoming month to hype the upcoming Halo 3 bombshell.
Bob McKenzie, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at GameStop, said, "What we've experienced is nothing short of phenomenal. Halo 3 has eclipsed many previous records and will prove to be one of the must-have items of 2007."
Jill Hamburger, Vice President of Movies and Games at Best Buy, said, "The excitement for Halo 3 is incredible. From our preorders online and the buzz we're hearing in our stores, we know this release is going to be one of the biggest entertainment events of the year. We're thrilled to be able to bring it to our customers."
As one of the gamer's most recognizable brands, Mountain Dew is creating a new beverage called "Game Fuel." Master Chief will be plastered across the boxes and cans, and the drink itself will contain 30 percent more caffeine and a citrus cherry flavor. Game Fuel will be available at over 150,000 locations in 20-ounce bottles, two-liter bottles and 12 packs of 12-ounce cans.
7-11 chains will be brandishing Halo-styled Slurpees and Dorito packs. A joint contest between the convenience store company and the chip manufacturer will offer lucky consumers the chance to speak a voice-over part in the Halo Wars strategy game.
Pontiac has designed a unique Halo 3 G6 car that will be promoted and given away at various promotional events.
Burger King will cook up King Size meals that will be packaged in Halo 3 bags and cups, as well as host other sweepstakes.
