So, what do you guys think?
with the new talk about dethroning the halo franchise and how they are beating a dead horse....im gonna disagree. i love this new game, and its just a beta, and i think they are selling it short by condemning it even before it comes out. Its got like half a year to build hype. give it time.

whadaya think?

It's fun but... I got a gamebreaking glitch, several instances where the match timed out and everyone else appeared to continue, a few times where people were invincible. But it's really fun and enjoyable...

I like it. It's all the minor changes that are keeping it fresh for me. The assassination animations, armor abilities, modes, they're all a very nice change.

The only issue I've run into is it insta-booting me from Xbox Live either at some random point mid-game or the instant the announcer says "Game over". Out of the eight games I've played in, only one of them has actually finished. It may not be a problem on their side, because Fable 2 does the same thing every two minutes, but given matchmaking is the game's only playable mode, it's made it unplayable for me.

I also laugh at the people (especially on YouTube) who are saying that the game is shit even though it's nowhere close to being released.

Grenades are gamebreakingly overpowered. Blast radius is too large and damage is too high. I also HATE the new melee system. Basically the first melee will always take off your shields completely, but will NEVER do damage to health if you have any shields left at all. Any close range encounters devolve into mashing the melee button over and over again. It's also possible to lose 1v1 even if you get the guy down to low shields because he hits the first melee. Dumb.

I like a lot of the weapons though, and the armor abilities are all pretty damn cool, so if those 2 issues are addressed it'll be a very fun game.

It's sad to say there's people that look at Reach as "just another Halo game" when, even though each Halo has been different. Those people will miss out and I'll have my time playing stockpile (best game mode that involves a flag or any other like elements in any game). I never really liked objective based game but stockpile is more than slayer now! I'd thought I'd abuse armor lock but I'm in love with sprint and camo (in that order, 70% sprint though so I can catch up to guys). It's been awhile where I could play more than 2 hours at a time on one game and I'm doing almost 4 hours a day (between work and school) on the beta. Sucks the game doesn't come out until fall... I might go and get Brink in the mean time maybe.

ive had no problems with the beta so far. except for minor glitches, here and there, everything has been smooth running. i agree, the nades need to be fixed. and the melee system, well, i think that its just another gameplay mechanic that was changed. idk, i dont really want to go back to the simultaneous beat downs. i like it though, always playing, and loved the switches. overall good game.

I am personally finding the beta quite fun to play. I've done about 14 matches now, ( just finished downloading it today...started on monday god my internet sucks... still get green ping though :) ) and am having a blast. i only have two real gripes.

1. the needle rifle. i can't figure out a reason to use it personally i think it is a waste of a weapon

2. I can already tell by the way that people are playing it that a lot of people are going to be using the jetpacks to death.

Love the new assassination. I did a assassination where some guy in a Jet pack was launching off a balcony. Me I had no jet pack just the running ability so I ran, jumped off the balcony and assassinated him by smashing his head down as he cussed Like a sailor.

I'm really excited to play this this, it looks amazing, and the customization of your character i love it. that really makes you feel a part of it.

The grenade plasma launcher is a guaranteed 5 kills provided you don't get sniped. And the DMR is painfully slow, other than that its pretty good so far. I just wish the pistol held 2 more rounds then it would be awesome. Also melee is a bit wonky at the moment.

The beta actually made me like Halo again. The weapons and the class abilities feel really good. The only problem I have is that the sound cuts out for no reason (I don't think its my TV). My friends think its just part of the cloaking ability but I'm not too sure.

it is

thus far I've loved the beta, my only qualm is that arena is the only guaranteed way to play regular slayer and grab usually just ends up being endless slogs of one flag which can grate without variety, they really ought to have included a symmetrical map for neutral flag and regular CTF, also, where is assault? powerhouse is pretty much tailor made for something like that.

That is part of the cloaking ability.

Most has been said. But surprisingly the armor abilities are pretty well balanced. The gameplay feels familiar, but fresh. But yeah, nades should NOT be lethal when I have 3/4 shields up. And the reticule is a little too opaque. And I wish that the stalker ability would make me a LITTLE harder to see, because as of now, 90% of its usefulness is the radar jammer.

I enjoy it the same amount as Halo Three.

After playing MW2 i cannot stand Energy Shields. Ill probably buy Halo: Reach, And have hilarious LAN's with my friends, But online play shall be a no-no.

the rocket launcher seems to have more splash than previous games, using it can often be suicidal but thats actually good, i was tired of being rocketed at point-blank by people in Halo 3 and see them walk away without so much as losing shields.

the grenades are definitely overpowered, though i do like the sound effects and thud. overall the weapons are pretty decent and balanced enough, the AR annoys me sometimes when it seems i can never gun down someone with it yet i fall victim to it regularly, but thats minor.

i love how they've gone the Bad Company way of earning rank and stuff, so even if you lose because of a shitty team or people dropping out you still get rewarded for playing well. that was one of the most frustrating aspects of Halo 3, playing your best but still losing because of events beyond your control and getting jack for it.
