So to my dismay my official Xbox One headset I've been using got cracked tonight while taking them off. They probably won't last too much longer.

Good enough excuse as any to get something a little better. Can someone recommend a good headset? With Surround Sound quality for around $100? Preferably wired but I'm not married to that.

PC or Xbox headset? I ask because the title says PC but the thread says Xbox.

If you want PC I recommend teh Corsair H2100. When I bought mine it was about $60, can be used wired or wireless with USB cord, are noise canceling, and have really good audio quality for the headphones and microphone

Have you considered just getting a microphone? I mean, if you want superior sound, headphones and a separate mic would be the way to go. They'll probably last longer too.
When my last gaming headset broke, I just replaced it with high quality Senhauser headphones and a clip-on microphone.

Sennheisers are always quality sound. Problem is they're also fragile. Good luck getting one to last more than a year with the tiny cord size they use.

How superior is the sound quality were talking? Cause I'm not an audiophile but I would like to see what all the fuss is about.

I actually have two regular USB mics lying around from my podcasting shenanigans, thing is were talkin' ease of use and I'd hate to waste more deskspace.

Does it matter? Computers have separate mic and headphone slots anyway, and you're probably able to get a pair of headphones and a cheap mic that are better quality that the headset for less money than the headset.
You're underestimating how lazy I am.

I only really want something maybe a little better than what I've had so far, which is the Xbox One Stero headset. If it didn't matter to me at all I'd just buy another one of those.

Do you have a sound card in your PC? A lot (if not most/all) of "Surround Sound" headphones require one to use that functionality. IF you don't have a sound card they use stereo audio like normal.

If you're looking for cheap, durable, and decent quality I like Hyper X. Not the best in any category but good all-rounders that are really affordable.

Regular audio is cheap as fuuuuuuck right now https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98

And here is Surround Sound and still under $100. A sound card is attached to the usb so that might solve that issue. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SAYCVTQ/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_3/152-4926154-1338626?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_r=CBANX5AH8WQ453573AG7&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=1944687522&pf_rd_i=B00JJNQG98

No that's just your audio driver.

These Creative Tactic3d Rage Wireless [http://us.creative.com/p/gaming-headsets/sound-blaster-tactic3d-rage-wireless-v2]

I've had a set for a couple of years now and they're really good. Excellent sound & base quality, the mic works surprisingly well and on a full charge the battery will last for about 16 hours of straight use.
