thats horrible, heres hoping the kid who stabbed him will get some much needed therapy, and for us gamers we can be happy that he didn't play a shooter, would be a shame if fox would take this tragedy and make it about vieogames rather than what ever physiological problems the other boy have.

What was the reason though for the attack?
Its harlem wtf more do you need?
(not trying to be mean just jabbing at harlem a lil'bit)

Maybe the 9 year old stole the other guys crack.
I think that's unfair to say about Harlem

I know his brother left to get some food really quick but how did that guy get in and stabbed this boy????
Go there some time. (Wear Kevlar)

Isn't blaming Harlem just as narrow minded as blaming Video Games?
No. Not in the slightest. Video games are not real. Harlem is a real place where real people get killed for real stupid reasons.

I call bullshit article.

There are more mentions of his PS3 than Ride, and details are very shady.

For all we know he could of been stabbed for refusing to pay for his food.
Yeah.. I dont exactly take this article seriously (at least the stance they take).

Not really. Considering Harlem is a place, and its crime rate is higher than other places, the location can play as a factor in the murder.
It's not really a reason, and I don't think anyone seriously suggested that Harlem was the reason this kid is dead.

But video games are actually completely irrelevant to this murder, as I can't see a reason a twenty-five year old would stab a nine year old over playing a video game. I'd blame the twenty-five year old, I'm assuming he wasn't all there mentally.

Ok this is just getting wierd, http://www.smh.com.au/world/falling-bullet-kills-boy-at-church-20100105-lqiy.html.
This kid was killed while playing nintendo in church. Fellow escapists, I think its time to admit that we gamers are under attack from a mysterious force we know little to nothing of. We must man the tesla cannons and fight back!

What the hell? How is this the game's fault? And why did his brother randomly stab him? I doubt anyone kills without motive.

Wait, why did he kill him? How, other than he was playing the game, dose this have anything to do with video games?
i think this is why "Despite the boy's grandfather, Antonio Juela, 59, stating "My grandson died over a video game," the Daily News declined to connect the game with the subsequent violent behavior."

this is bull crap, i heard a story like this where a kid stabed his sister and he just happened to play FF7,

I'm loosing faith in The Escapist. Newspost after newspost it's just getting dumber and dumber.

Are you people reporting every death that has at least minimal relation to video games?

Next up: "A man killed after playing Tetris. 30 year old John got a high score and 5 days later was run over by a car"

And you are not helping fight the "video games cause violence" campaign LINKING GAMES TO MURDER WHEN THERE WAS NO REASON TO DO SO. Since the media said there was no connection, why bother with the misinforming title?!

Wow... I'm so happy *sniff.* However, it was Tony Hawk. Not really that violent. If they'd been playing Modern Warfare 2, perhaps it would have been different. Still, we can hope the media's going to leave us alone.

So now frigging Tony Hawk games are being blamed for violence. Seriously, he was playing a game and got stabbed, the two aren't connected. I do feel sorry for the kid though.

By the way, am I the only one who read the title and thought that the game had literally. Now that I think about it I don't even know how that could happen.
Yeah, I pictured him falling off the skateboard thing and hitting his head too hard off something...
OT: Well that sucks, I would love to know what made that twit stab an innocent child...

Unbloodylikely. It's an excellent scapegoat, but I think that they're just having trouble linking videogame skateboarding with an obviously separate attack.
exactly. when will it end?

Did you even read the article. It says the paper DIDN'T connect the two.
True, but the grandfather did. While it's a step up it was still unfairly blamed.
Actually, the grandfather just said he was killed because of a video game. I'm wondering if the attacker tried taking the game/PS3, and when the boy refused to give it to him, he got stabbed for it.

YOu know exactly why he was stabbed hasn't been explained just that he happened to be playing a video game when it happened, my theory is the 25-year-old wasn't 100% right in the head hw probaly had some sort of mental disorder or something I can't think of any other reason to randomly stab a 9-year-old.
