Has anyone else ever wondered what the people they speak to online look like?

As I'm sure a large majority of the people who post on these forums games, or at least speak to people on forums online, I was wondering whether anyone else does the same thing that I do, and start to consider how the people they meet look?

It's a strange thought, when you think about it.

Not really, I picture people as their avatars for the most part. Except for Purple Rain, that beard of his will forever be burned into my retinas.

Pretty much what Pedro said, unless you constantly change your avatar, then I imagine people with pixelated faces.

Meh, I think about it for some, but for the most part...not really. Much like Pedro, I just use the avatars as what they look like in real life. Makes for a much more interesting conversation when you are speaking to Mega Man, a Ninja, or Uncle Sam with a Gas Mask on.

I vaguely remember a picture thread though as well back when I first joined. I didn't post because I didn't think anyone would care what I looked like since I was new. Not like thats really changed, I highly doubt anyone really knows who I am still around here.

Apparently to most of you I am nutritious and a sadist put together.

I can blame you though, I think of anyone who I can name but not recognize as Donald Rumsfeld or the numa-numa guy(these make it worse when it's girl I know of but can't picture.).

It's interesting to me, I'd like to know how everyone looks. If I had my way, everyone's avatar would just be a picture of them ;]

I don't like to picture people as avatars because I know that's not what they really look like. Although, I suppose through the medium of the internetz, that's pretty much the idea - a little more anonymity than in real life.

I imagine people as their avatars but as if they were alive and talking, for instance ol'Lichy wouldn't be sitting on the frozen throne he would be chatting with an imp, a silhouette in a sombrero, etc etc.

I just thought you lot were all people with big hazy question marks instead of real heads... and that is an interesting image. I mean first of all how would you be able to eat pie? I guess this is just absolutely no concern with the outside image of people, and actually not wanting to know it. I freak out when I find somebody is a girl, so seeing someones real face would probably send me straight into a coma.

Good to know I'm seen as an evil robot-terminater-smiley.

Anyway, yeah, it's the same for me, but it sometimes get really confusing when people change their avatars often.

On here, I always associate you with your Avi.
On any other website or MSN, I won't accept until I've seen a picture of you.

I'm pretty much Captain Obvious here, but I know it of those people who showed me RL-pictures of them, don't care about the looks of everyone else and am too uncreativ to imagine talking to a panda hugging a log or some dude with a smilie for a face.

You know, I do. Mostly it's the same generic face and body shape... but on WoW, when you can hear the people, then it changes. Skullpoker is like my grandfather on my dad's side, Adela (or something... A-something...) is like Hurley, and Thornyrose is my sister as an adult.

Mhahah no one will know what I look like, actually even in real life I wear a pulled down hat and a neck balaclava/scarf thing so only my eyes are visible, according to a year 7 I'm really a vampire so it must be true. But I see people in the forums as stick figures sitting at computers

I only wonder about it when they have a picture of an actual human being.
"Is that really him/her, or just some celebrity I've never heard of?"

Not terribly much, considering I don't really care unless we've become good friends - in which case we trade pictures or go on webcam.
