thank you person who took the damn question seriously
Hmm, not sure if you're being sarcastic, or implying that nobody else took the question seriously.
I've always thought it was odd how underrepresented the gay community is in gaming, and game development, as well. Perhaps it's just the fact that it's still a fledgling form of media, too many homophobic children still hanging around waiting for the next Halo clone?
No I wasn't being sarcastic, my question is a serious one of underrepresented gay gamers, it seems around the time I started "seriously gaming" my gay friends dropped gaming as if it was a bad habit
Are you sure they just don't like to play videogames? You see, to me it seems that you are making an unspoken assumption: them being gay has something to do with them not being gamers.
In my own experience, this is not the case. I have gay friends who absolutely detest volleyball. It has nothing to do with them being gay, but rather their personality and dislikes. Just as with gaming: being a gamer and being gay are not connected in any way.
Yes, there are fewer gay gamers than there are straight gamers. Just as there are fewer bi-sexual gamers and transsexual gamers. The simplest explanation is general population demographics. Overlay the percentage of people who are gamers with sexual orientation and the numbers should match up: the percentage of gamers whom are gay, from all gamers, should be the same as the relative number of gay people within the general population.
