That's the question. Have you, in an act of extreme nerdlove, given a name to your game consoles, your PC, or your peripherals?

Personally, my PS2 has earned the title of "Old Reliable". Among friends, they sometimes call my PC a "blogroller", since I use MorningCoffee for Firefox, which opens up about 20 different blogs at once.

I had a girlfriend who did. She named almost every possession she owned. Including her eraser, "Smudge". She was odd to say the least.

My PS2 is called sticks. One day, when the disc tray was open, the PS2 fell and the tray broke. My dad tried to repair it with two wooden ice cream sticks. It didn't works. After we replaced the tray, It kept getting stuck. Now if you want to play a game you have to push the tray.

Since wh---- ohhh. Forget I said anything.
Anyway, learn this: Madness is interesting. Madness is MORE interesting if everyone is aware than your brain is a raging madhouse and a nexus of insanity.

Me and my computer: the prime example of a Love/Hate relationship. Except that my computers ALWAYS hates me.

Same with my computer. Good stress relief... sort of.

I named my 360 "Sir Dies Alot" mostly because it's had to be shopped about 3 times.

No. Never really crossed my mind.

I do shout at my PS2 for being racist because it dislikes black-layered PS1 games though. He's often called 'neglected' a lot as well, due to my console apathy that started around '05. I guess my PS2 only gets treatment as such for being called differently as opposed to any other console I ever own.

If we count the computer, I love to call him a piece of shit a lot. Not a good gaming system, though he's pretty reliable and well-kept. (but I guess any computer would seem so after dealing with my Windows ME)

I guess, instead of names, I decide the gender of my hardware, which is probably even worse.

Lets see there's Micey(mouse),Minnie(Mini9),Chiefy(Halo 3 360), POS (Gamecube), Hungry (PS2 phat that ate disks), Slim (PS2 Slim that worked), Dino (N64 with dinosaur stickers on it and one of the controllers), and Reliable (GBC). I have to give them names, otherwise its hard to indicate which one I'm swearing at.

Why would you ever get rid of her?
She was clearly a keeper.
Actually, she got rid of me. Maybe I was too normal and predictable.

I'm trying to win her back.

I once did a report on the vikings and I bought a costume with the horn helmet to make a point saying that they didn't wear horns on helms.

Later, my parents put it on the tv in my bed room and i named it Ed the Viking T.V. for a while...

"The Rig" is my current machine.

I went through a sad phase where my PCs had names from female anime characters from series I was watching. I'm glad that's over, I think getting married helped with that.

I can just imagine her, "oh there's my toot-toot. Better get my Funky Green so I can shop for some Loopies." You'd feel like you were talking to a retarded alien.

My laptop's name is hal because it is trying to drive me insane. When I am typing in a text box in any web browser, every few words it decides to shift+tab causing all kinds of problems. My desktop is simply the monolith (ala 2001). I have a plain black Lian Li X500 case.

Well, when I had to do a system recovery it said "Give a name to this computer" so I typed in Skynet.

Was that a bad idea?
