the Baldurs gate enhanced edition Pre-load is available and the official forum website is up full of really cool content including help for new players.

Links are here

(a little taste of the actual game of improvements, check out the inventory and layout, it has definitely been "enhanced" in my opinion.

Hmm, I'm still not sure whether to get the EE or not. I mean, it looks great but I already have the original and the looks are not that huge for me. I guess I'll just wait for a while and see if anyone I know got it, so I can see it up close.

I'll no doubt pick it up, but just the same I'll also be waiting for one of my favourite mods; the spectacular BG1 NPC project to be ported over before I actually play it. That is *if* it's ported over, which it hopefully will.

The Devs for this Enhanced Edition say that making mods compatible with their version of the game should be easy but we'll see.

New UI does look very sleek from that video however and I love that they've added the ability to zoom in and out.

it adds a whole new are to the game, romances if your into that thing, a few classes and a whole lot of bug fixes to the game as well from fans.

LOL at square enix by the way and Madman half those mods ive used beforehand the romance/banter packs and I have to say a lot of them are probably been included to this one including the interface.

Yeah, that's the thing, I have the original and I can add a bunch of mods to it, too. Well, granted, I still haven't played a modded game, so I dunno how it would compare to the EE it terms of appealing to me. That's why I'm not sure - I'd prefer to see it in action, so to say. But I'm in no rush - even if I did want BGEE now, I would still have to wait to play it, so it doesn't make much difference one way or another if I get it now or not.

I'm cool with making the game look better.
I'm cool with improving the UI, and removing bugs.
I'm even cool with new features like making the scripting less obtuse.

Where I draw the line is adding zones and dialogue and characters to the game.
Even if it's by the original writers, GREEDO DID NOT FUCKING SHOOT FIRST.
Ahem.

The pre-load had a median speed of about 30 bytes per second for me. That's about 0.03 kilobytes. I imagine I wasn't alone in trying to beat the rush!

The problem with this project is that it competes with the Easy Tutu mod, which is ofcourse, free.

Does this include TotSC? What about BGII and ToB? I will buy anything BG of course, but I'd rather get everything at once instead of piecemeal.

I played BG TuTu last year I think for the first time in a while, so I've had my fix for now. It was great to play BG with the BGII interface and engine, not to mention have the whole thing, with expansions, play out together. The end of BG and the start of BGII was almost seamless.

Well I got to say their site is scarce on what the bloody hell they are selling, devs for future reference... that sort of info is quite important.

So what this BG:EE will get you is the original Baldur's Gate adventure plus Tales of the Sword Coast expansion on the BG2 engine, with added goodies of their own.
But this does not include BG2 and Shadows of Amn, which is odd because I remember them saying it will be the full package.
