Hello there Escapist, mind helping a chap out?

I installed the game just fine on my laptop a couple days ago and have in the past (same disk 4 years ago) installed it on my old workstation. Both Windows 7 64 Bit.

However whenever I try to install it on my current workstation I get the error "Error Number: 0x80010105 Description: The server threw an exception. Setup will now terminate. " as the installation launches.

What information I have been able to gather imply that I have some corrupted information in my registry left over from a previous installation however I have never installed this game on this workstation before and have run a couple of registry cleaning software (Auslogic and Microsoft) which found absolutely no problems.

I do not know if it helps but here are the specs of the three systems.

Old Workstation: I7 940, GTX 285, 12GB Ram, Windows 7 64 Bit.

Laptop: 3740qm, 680m, 32GB Ram, Windows 7 64 Bit.

Current Workstation: 3930K, 2x GTX 670 - Non-SLI, 64GB Ram, Windows 7 64 Bit.

P.S. This error has never happened to me before on any computer with any program.

You could try manually removing the key from your registry
go to start and in the search bar type regedit then its

HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE->software->WOW3264Node->EA->right click Battlefield 1942 and select delete.

Then go back up to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE->software

then down to Microsoft->Windows->currentversion->uninstall then right click {A8DBF55D-73C0-4E37-A10E-365BFBB14119} and delete

Unfortunately I was not able to find any of those in my registy but I did discover some corrupted BF3 components that were causing other errors. Thanks anyways.
