Hey everyone, I have seen a few of these threads, so I was looking for some input on parts to pick

I have been going by this website as a general guide
http://www.logicalincrements.com/ "note that I am in Canada"

So I have a general idea of what I want, a gaming computer for sub- $1000 dollars that will have good upgrade potential and that can handle all the games I can throw at it.

Under the aforementioned guide, I want to get something around the "superb" range.

Here are some my questions:
-What processor should I get?:
I heard that getting a beastly processor is unneeded, and that anything over $150 is overkill for gaming. I have likewise heard that Intel is significantly ahead of AMD and that I should go with them. I was thinking about the AMD FX-8320, though I have heard that it runs hot and it a power hog.

-What graphics card should I get?:
I have an old 5870, so I am looking for an upgrade, I honestly have no clue what to get for a video card, as I have become out of the loop. Is AMD or Nvidia king right now?

What type of SSD should I get?: There is a really expensive intel 730 480GB ssd on sale for a really good price, as well as a 500GB samsung for a similar price, which do you think is better?

Suggestions and opinions for all parts are appreciated!

Get a core i5 running at 3.0 ghz or better.

If you don't need a SSD, get a hybrid drive instead. Much larger capacity, far cheaper per gb, and is right between the two for read, write, and boot speeds.

Get an R9 280 or a 760gtx instead. The differences between AMD and Nvidia really won't matter until you reach the best of them, in which case Nvidia has the current edge.

Do you have an OS disc or do you need to get one?

Do it now, too. It's cyber monday, best deals you can get for a while all at once.

You can put together an amazing machine right now for $1000. For gaming, I always recommend an AMD CPU, intel will of course always be marginally AMD in terms of performance, but CPU horsepower doesn't really matter in games, so your better off saving the $100 and going with an 8350 over an i5. Likewise, AMD will generally edge nvidia out in terms of performance per dollar spend, your best bet for that budget is an R9 290. For your storage, I recommend getting a lower capacity SSD for your operating system and most used applications, and a traditional hard drive for bulk storage, high capacity SSDs have come down in price a lot lately, but they are still a bit too expensive to be used as the only storage in a desktop at that budget in my opinion.

I recommend that you consider this build, it should be among the best options at your budget. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YKN2TW
