It's late at night, I'm not feeling too tired, so I want to watch a film. Don't feel like watching anything on DVD, so I'm looking for films to (legally) download and watch. Thing is, I can't for the life of me think what to watch.

Which is where you come in. Can you guys help me choose something to watch? I'm not too fussed what sort of films you suggest, but any help would be great :D.

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas and Requiem For A Dream spring to mind. There's also Falling Down.

Edit: Oh, and there's also Butterfly Effect, American Psycho and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

Edit 2: There's also Brain Dead if you want something completely senseless or Battle Royale (foreign though) for a lot of action.

What genre are in the mood for? That would help narrow it down.
Not really too fussed, I'm open to anything. Though I do generally prefer newer films, but older films are fine too...

'I Think I love my wife' it's good, honestly.

I suggest City of God or Pans Labyrinth, if you don't mind foreign films (maybe foreign I don't know where you are)

Pulp Fiction is a great film if you are looking for story, as well as Watchmen. As for action films, I would say District 9, Avatar, Blood Diamond, Iron Man... There are so many quality films, I can't even start to name them all.

The Italian Job - Action/heist movie with car chases and such
Lord of the Rings - Great fantasy movie(s), watch all 3 if you really need to kill some time
Casino Royale - 2nd most recent James Bond movies, one of my favorites
The Prestige - Awesome mystery/intrigue movie about 2 rival magicians/brothers; mind-blowing plot twist

...and that's about all I can bother myself to think of.

EDIT: How could I forget?! The Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump are both great movies as well. Definitely watch them if you haven't already seen them. Even if you have, they're worth watching again.

I would suggest Falling Down, Big Fish, Fanboys if your a fan of star wars, Ponyo if you like kids films, and finally The Signal if you want something messed up and weird.

Well, you could watch a series ,that's what i usually do with too much time on my hands. But if you want a movie i'm sure you've heard of Hot tub time machine - totally undersophisticated yet plainly dumb funny.

Well, I've made a decision, oddly enough it isn't one from this thread - X-Men 2. However, thanks for all the suggestions, I've got a handy reference place now for next time I have too much time on my hands (i.e. I can pick one of the films you guys have already suggested :D).

The Shawshank Redemption, Forest Gump, The Iron Giant, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, anything from Pixar, The Fugitive, and Blazing Saddles, just to name a few.
