So I've been trying to refresh my memories of this one tv show I watched as a kid, but I can't for the life of me remember the name and Google is frustratingly unable to help me! If you watched shitty kids' anime tv shows like I did please consider helping me out!

I seem to remember the show being about a boy main character who fights monsters under different circumstances. I'm pretty sure the monster are converted into orbs/cards when they're defeated and become a part of the main team's arsenal (I think?). There's a fan-service dumb girl with big breasts involved (I think she's part of a Team Rocket style villain duo), and those are all the scattered memories I still have of the show.

The big thing I remember (and that I actually remember) is the main character faces off with this huge bipedal monster with one eye in the finale. The battle takes place in a desert and the boy keeps getting beaten down until he gets some kind of Heavenly powers and he beats this final villain while winged and wielding a giant sword.

The entire show is like a splinter in my brain that I'd love to just pluck out and examine, does this ring a bell with anyone? Please?

That's not it! But I can understand why it popped up in your head. Thank you for the attempt <3

Maybe Shaman King but it's unlikely?

The last paragraph reminded of the final where Yoh face a red monster (Zeke spirit) that was also biped and had one eye. Granted the location was a forest or something and not a desert.

I freaking loved Shaman King; wouldn't mind a Next Generation edition for it! Zeke's Spirit is actually pretty similar to the monster I remember from the other show (Zeke's spirit has two eyes though), but the horns pointed up more, and I think the color was darker, I want to say it was some shade of purple.

Thanks for the try!

PS: I'm pretty sure the fan service girl had some shade of blue hair.

Sounds like Bakugan but I'm not sure since I only caught glimpses of it. I came in this topic hoping it would be monster rancher cause that anime is amazing for what it is but I was sadly let down x.X.

It would help if you clarified how old exactly you mean. To me old anime is from the 80s and before due to my age lol.

You're obviously thinking of Sword Art Online.

For some reason I'm thinking Slayers, but maybe one if the movies.

Can't really explain why though.

Well, Lina may be a washboard, but she isn't boy-levels of flat. If she heard you say that you would be burned to a crisp.

"The Boy" might not have been her though. A movie I remember in vague flashes had a rando dude as it's star, with Lina and the gang playing backup.

For some reason I want to say Monster Rancher. I remember that monsters tended to turn into stone-like discs when defeated/killed. And there was a recurring female character (with big breasts and a little shirt) who hung out with a big rock monster.
The kid (Genki) traveled the world and fought a bunch of monsters in various locations while turning a few villains into allies. And I do remember a desert popping up more than once.

Unlikely. The final battle in that entailed a Godzilla sized dragon (with fur) facing off against an equally massive phoenix, which doesn't remotely resemble the battle TheMatsjo described.

You guys are making some really awesome and partially fitting suggestions, but I'm 100% sure it's none of these. I think it looked like a '90s anime (I watched it in the early 2000's I think) and the art style kind of resembles what we got in the original Medabots, waaay worse than Sword Art Online. I'm starting to suspect it's one of those shows that wasn't good enough to even be remembered, and only people who have seen it will recognize it. In the final battle the enemy is like AoT master Titan-sized.

Ruled out so far:
- Duel Masters
- Shaman King
- Medabots
- Monster Rancher
- Sword Art Online
- Slayers

Anyone else?

Sorry, but "collector" anime are a dime a dozen. For commercial reasons, they are so ubicuos that you can find then in almost every genre.

Maybe this list can help you out: http://www.anime-planet.com/anime/tags/card-battles
Is not even complete, but I guess it is long enough.

I looked through them all but none of them look right. Maybe I'm misremembering the monster capturing method. Thank you.

A part of it reminded me of Shinzo (otherwise known as Mushrambo) which did involve fallen foes turning into cards and cards becoming a way of them powering up and some divine power transformations. Though I don't remember a fanservice villain lady character, not did the final boss have just one eye (more like a gigantic evil knight looking dude) so it probably isn't it.

Yes! Looking at the clips on Youtube I can only conclude that I conflated two different shows; one with cards and the fan service girl, and Shinzo! I misremembered the one eye (probably due to One Punch Man) but that's it! Guess it still leaves me with half a splinter after all (unless I hallucinated the other show somehow), but this is a major one for me! Ahhh, Jetix, the good old days. The finale of this show was so long but so epic (at the time). Maybe I can still get this somewhere for a little bit of a nostalgia ride :3.

Maybe it'll also jog my memory for the other show.

Memory can be funny like that. In any case, I'm glad I was able to help you find the show you were looking for.

As for the other, I do remember Mon Colle Knights also having cards and did have a rather dumb big breasted girl villain in it.
