Help with Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Ok, so I searched the forums here and I've looked through a couple of walkthroughs and nothing seems to be providing me with an answer. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction?

So here's the problem: Playing the game and I'm in the Cistern area. I've placed all the pipes correctly and all the levers and weights are in the right positions (I assume so since the game won't let me move them anymore). I got the voice asking me "Daniel, what are you doing?" I've already been into the actual Cistern to lower the water in the sewer and I just need to get the eastern bridge to come down but it won't. According to every FAQ and walkthrough I've looked at, I've done everything right, and yet the bridge won't come down far enough for me to hit it with the rock or raise the other bridge and jump onto it.

Do any of you know how to get past this? Is there something I missed?

Edit: throw the rocks onto the stone walkway first climb the ladder then throw the rocks onto the stuck bridge.

Or if you got a healing potion with you raise the opposite walkway run onto it and then jump onto the stuck one.

Edit again: did the bridge move at all when you moved the lever after finishing the puzzles?

No the bridge hasn't moved an inch, which is the problem. It is supposed to drop a little bit, which would allow me to throw rocks at it or make the jump to lower it. The problem is it won't lower AT ALL, which I can't figure out.

Then one of the puzzles isn't finished correctly, which happens with a lot of players, what gets most people is the pipes and the weights.

I know the weights are correct, because the game doesn't allow me to move the cranks anymore. I looked at the youtube video and I think I might have placed one of the pipes in the wrong place. Instead of the left side, I put the vertical pipe on the right side. Let's see if that works
