I bought the "Limited Edition" of Dead Space 3 on Origin. I didn't particularly want a limited edition, but there doesn't seem to actually be a "standard" edition on sale at the moment so my only options were LE or nothing. So I bought LE.

It turns out LE means you start the game with some ludicrously overpowered gear that totally disrupts the game balance and makes resource management and weapon crafting completely redundant.

Origin seems to think that these additions (called "Witness Pack" and "First Contact Pack" IIRC) are DLCs. So, to my question: does anyone know a way to disable them?

Also, I seem to start the game with every blueprint. I'm not sure whether this is another "bonus" of the LE or just something that happens to everyone. I'm also not really sure what the point of blueprints even is, as it seems the blueprint weapons can be constructed from parts without using the blueprints. Any clarity you can give me here would be appreciated.

Thanks.

That's one way of putting it.

Don't use them? They're put into your safe, so you actually have to willfully pull them out in order to use them. They're completely avoidable if you don't purposely select them. I think you can dismantle them for scrap parts too if you're completely set on removing them.

~Every~ blueprint? The game gives you a lot of blueprints to start with, but not every blueprint. There are about 8-10 more blueprints that should be unlocked as you progress through the game.

Blueprints allow you to craft stuff from scrap parts (scrap metal, transducers etc). Custom building requires specific components (heavy standard frame, precise tip etc). Two different ways of building the same thing essentially.

Yeah, don't use them. Dismantle them if you want.

It's not like you have to equip them just because you've got them.

Thanks.

Yeah, I suppose I could try to ignore them. I could just add it to the list of things to ignore (the microtransactions button, John "Houdini" Carver, the plot holes). But disabling them would still be my preference, if it's possible.

I'm not sure I start with ~every~ blueprint, but I am sure I've picked up blueprints that I already had at the start of the game. I'm not sure why they are scattered around as "loot".

The "specific components" can also be crafted from scrap parts, so I'm still not really seeing a distinction there. Maybe it's cheaper (less total cost in scrap) to craft a weapon from a blueprint? Does anyone know?
