Nobody ever draws Jesus looking confident and optimistic, a firm believer in his ideals of peace and good will to others. They always draw him with this limp, cast-his-eyes-to-the-heavens as if to say "WTF dad romans crucified me" look.

Didn't someone notice here going into the place with some paints and a brush // Wouldn't they have asked her "What are you doing with all those paints?"

Oh well, still funny thou

This is the funniest thing I have seen this month. No kidding. I've laughed so much that my cheeks hurt.

Well think of it this way: I would like to think that Jesus would have appreciated all the laughter that lady brought to the internet world. I'm pretty sure she's a few crayons short of a 24-pack, but she meant well.

That being said, holy crap how do you let it get that bad before you realize that maybe you shouldn't have been doing this in the first place?

Art restoration is a business that takes years to master, along with about ten years of serious Art History coaching. It takes a huge amount of talent, because you're being paid to essentially emulate missing chunks of something someone else made well before your time.

Sorry, Nice Old Lady. Being a Nice Old Lady with a probable case of devout worship or just an emotional attachment to the original piece won't cut it.

This is something most people tend to understand fairly well: if you aren't good at something, if you don't have the training for it - then don't try.

She probably thought it was such a damn shame to leave the painting as-is that someone had to take care of it right away. Too bad.

And this is why you don't mess with things that aren't yours, especially when you lack the experience. I hope it can be restored, but I sort of doubt it.

Wait, if it was so important to the locals, how could they let an old lady with no expirience in painting get the portrait? You'd think it would be better guarded.

Well, thats... interesting. I don't know why you'd think you could fix up a portrait with no experience - thats like looking at a car, with no experience, and saying "Yeah, I can fix that right up!"

I mean, it wasn't the most valuable painting, but really? This seems like something teenagers would do as a prank than someone legitimately trying to do good. But whatever. I wouldn't say the piece is lost forever, atleast it lasts in the digital archives.

But damn...

I particularly like how the face needed almost no work at all and she still painted over it. Like she realized that the almost-photorealistic face on top of the goat turd of a dress and out-of-nowhere scroll just didn't match up, so she ruined the face equally to the rest!

Gods, it's like a kid who breaks a lamp and then tries to glue it back together, but spills the glue on the carpet.

It's not like someone welded a huge copper dong to the Statue of Liberty or something else the rest of the world might care about.
You just added to my to do list.

OT: Oh god. How can someone be that stupid and still remember to breath?
