Hold On.

I dont care that Freddy Krueger is in Mortal Kombat

I do care that you picked the terrible version and not the original Wes Cravens version!

Damn Remakes!
Ruining The Foundations of Great Things!!
Hear hear! Down with this sort of thing!

No, but really... I don't mind either way.

Cool... I guess, though I'm not on the whole "DOWN WITH REMAKES!!!!!!" bandwagon and honestly I'm not arsed with the idea of using the recent updated Freddy which I didn't think was too bad. Honestly thought the new Freddy was pretty good and Jackie Earl Haley played the job well. Robert Englund may have been the original but by the end the character had turned into a joke. Thought the new Freddy brought a little more fear into the character.

Though the film it self... Yeah I admit it was bad, not the worst horror I've seen but pretty bad.

I also think the character works well for the games with the gore and that, yes I'd also like to see Jason in here too as that would be awesome. I do hope they have the original version as an alternate costume though, depends entirely on licensing though.

Warner Bros owns FEAR, too, right?

Alma needs to be in it.
That would be an unfair advantage.

*Alma and Scorpion standing across from each other*

Scorpion: GET OVER HERE!

Alma: I'm already behind you >:)

Unexpected? Sure. Does he belong there? No.

I had a discussion in another thread about this. For the developers, I agree that it's right out of left field and we wouldn't see it coming. Hell, it makes more sense than Kratos. But when you think of it...Freddie shouldn't be in MK for one good reason: The fear

Freddie Kruger's MO is to engender fear and terror into the people he's killing, the more the better. It makes him stronger, whereas people with courage and a strong will have beaten him down. And then, you have some MK character who aren't just unlikely to be afraid, but who can't. Scorpion regularly goes to hell and he is a dead man in a ninja suit. Would he EVER fear the Fred-meister? Heck no.

Points for the unexpected, but that's about it.
This would work, except in freddie films i've seen, it was less about individual fear and more about people needed to know about and fear him for him to be powerful in the slightest.
Well, he'll get some of the first, though the lack of recognition will be irritating. (Like anyone from Outworld watches horror flicks.) Fear? Not nearly enough, if at all. Freddy's a horrible man with claws, but I mean he's likely to MAKE FRIENDS with Baraka's gang. Only the most human characters could, and alot of them have better powers than him.

Based on what Boon's saying, it sounds like there's a definite possibility that NetherRealm Studios might be able to make a fighting game that stars iconic horror movie characters. How awesome would that be?
So awesome somebody else already did it.

I mean sure, it makes more sense than Star Wars characters in Soul Caliber, but still, this seems more than a little silly.

Freddy got turned into a mortal by Shao Khan and so he can no longer do what he usually does in people's dreams. He now seeks revenge and wants to regain his soul... That's why he's a mortal, and that's why he's in the tournament.

I mean sure it might not be airtight, but it's still fun.

Well Star Wars was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. It could be in that time line >:)

Oh god, it didn't belong. And Yoda didn't deserve to be so fast and small ><

I'm kinda curious to see what his babality will be....

Honestly, though, he just looks awkward in the game. His design just doesn't fit in with the rest of the MK cast.

Maybe he'll be turned back into a normal baby with no burns, and therefore be the only Babality other than Shao Khan that isn't upset?

I guess its just because I'm a dad, but I just can't condone playing as a child muderer/molester (even if he doesn't do that in the game) like Krueger. I've watched the gameplay trailer multiple times and just can't seem to muster even the tiniest bit of enthusiasm for this DLC Character. In fact, I bought the "Season Pass" for MK on XBL and now I feel a little bit "ripped off" since the 4th Character is now someone who I have no intention of downloading. (Can I get an alternate character or something instead MK team?)

And maybe its just me, but why would anyone root for a serial child molester/murderer character in any piece of fiction anyway? Can someone please explain the appeal of Freddy to me because I am just not getting it (from a parents perspective)
Or you could always download him for the sake of making him the victim in the Fatality tutorial when you need to vent.

I have to say, this might make me buy the game. I would have preferred the one glove Freddy but meh. It did make me think though. If any guest character should have been there; It should be Pinhead. Imagine the first ten seconds of the trailer for a second.
Black screen, voice over(Pinhead), "So, they think, that they, know something about pain and suffering..." Would be awesome, hell it would be cheap. they wouldn't even have to animate
him. Chains pop up and block, chains and random cenobites do the attacking, and for the fatal, he rips your soul apart.
hrm, somewhere that went from being a great idea to a really bad one.

So, at first, I thought "naw, this HAS to be a joke... an early/late April Fool's joke or something"... but then it got to the in-game footage and realised this is real.

I cried a little when I read that it was the remake version and not the original...

What about Shang Tsung? His doesn't get upset. Nor does Kratos, Johnny Cage and Kintaro

What i think should be done is at freddy should have unique fatalitys against every Mortal Kombat character using there nightmares that would be intresting.

Now I know why freddy looks gimpy in MK, they used the crappy remake version of him. He doesn't really fit in Mortal Kombat to me, it's more like a random pop culture chracter thrown in and avoiding having to actually develop a new character.

Backstory? Already created? Personality? Already created. Dialogue? Already created. Visual style? Already created. Just upgrade an already existing model and slap some new textures and accessories on it and presto! new DLC character based on already exisitng and non related character.

Wouldn't any 80's slasher dude fit if that's the case? Why not Jason Vorhees or pinhead? They would meet those requirements and would have bitchin fatalities.

Meh. I didn't remember Shang or Kintaro, and just plum forgot about Kratos and Cage.

It's been a while since I played it.

He starts molesting himself.

I mean, if they stay somewhat true to the character.
