Recently in my interest in European history of war and affairs, I stumbled across this recent anime/manga called "Hetalia Axis of Powers." Some of you might be familiar with it and some might not be. Anyways I looked into it and read the plot and whatnot. To be honest I thought it was a neat and clever idea. Have each country represented by a character and act out their affairs through that character in a sarcastic tone.

They have the allies: The UK and the USA as arguing head strong relatives. I guess the UK plays the role of the bigger brother and the USA of the younger brother who recently got on his feet. The are both too arrogant as the USA thinks he is always the hero while the UK thinks he is still as strong as he once was. France is a gentlemen type figure who always carries a rose. Russia is an older looking man who is a hard worker and enjoys vodka.

The Axis: Germany is the leader of the group as he tries to help Japan and N. Italy become more strong in their little group. N. Italy is the son of the Holy Roman Empire or something and was expected to continue the rein, but all N. Italy seems to be interested in is cooking, painting, and singing.

They even have little side stories such as Prussia and Austria always fighting each other. Hungary is a womam who is Austria's girlfriend and ex- wife(Meaning Hungary's break off from the Austrian-Hungary Empire) in which they still maintain good relations. Prussia is kinda jealous that Austria has Hungary and lusts for Hungary himself. However Hungary only seems to have affection for Austria who is a well written gentlemen, while Prussia seems to be more of a ruffian.

If you are not familiar with history then catch up, because these characters are pretty much written from their historical counter parts in kinda of a funny way that should play out well.

I was thinking this should look decent or at least satirically funny. The show itself did prove to be that but I can never look at it that way when I discovered the fanbase of the show. Thats right folks, another anime is completely ruined by the fanbase it attracts.

I mean granted a fanbase shouldn't affect my opinion of the show but when you get so many homosexual fanfictions of two people that are suppose to represent COUNTRIES it gets sicking. Thats where the show falls. It is suppose to be about a satirical depiction of historical events of countries around WWII, with characters representing the countries. However the weeaboos managed to take this and ass fuck it completely with romantic fanfiction. They took it to the point where the characters were taken out of their context and put into their sicking Japanese love games, ignoring any point of comedy or satire.

This is the reason why I have and continue to lose hope for any good anime that will come out in the future.

Well, how nice of you to call the majority of Anime fans the people who love Yaoi.

There are a lot of things I'd like to tell you, but I'd be suspended faster than Demented Teddy could say "Objection"

Its a good anime (aside from the Chibitalia sections). But it is possible to just watch the anime and not get involved with the fan base.

Nobody forces you to read fanfiction or look at hentai pictures.

And remove the pic before you get massively flamed.

What is Chibitalia... it sounds like the technical term for your bits, so I kinda don't want to know...

The crap that is poured out by this fanbase is very abundant and might as well be forced.

Youtube search it. Guarantee your first page will be videos of shipping characters.

Its a part of the show where they show the characters as children and they try to make everything cute.

I dare say that picture constitutes discrimination.

The anime sounds interesting though, I'm a big history-nerd myself.

Sometimes I wish I didn't visit internet messageboards so I could stay away from other fans of thing sI like, because more often than not the 'real' fans are incredibly stupid, no matter what it's about.

Still, I usually don't let the fans influence my opinion of something. If I don't like them, I just avoid dealing with them. Problem solved.

So its a good anime then?
Yes but I find it hard to look at it now. I just can't see the characters the way they were mean't to be.

I'll quote Yathzee "Its a good pudding that someone stuck their dick into."

That someone being the fanbase.

Yes, but for people with good impulse control, that's never a problem.

I agree incidentally, the comic is awesome. Haven't seen the anime, yet.

I've managed to watch it without finding any of these pages or getting involved with the vomit inducing part of the fanbase at all.

Oh God I hate those parts. Why do they do that?! I've seen that happen in Hellsing OVA, and it is totally inappropriate and out of place.

It's also kinda perverted.

Ha ha, yeah, it is hilarious, and yes there is an awful lot of gay porn for it. However, this is one of the few anime with yaoi fangirls where it's justified. The show itself is very gay, Germany/Italy is cannon and England/America strongly hinted at. And wasn't there a part where France tried to marry/rape England?

Hitler and Mussolini were butt buddies? Hahaha... I'm thinking you just spoilered it for him. But... why would they do that with political satire?! Why?

It's a pretty funny and quite historically accurate show depicting the countries and their history-creating stereotypes. My favorite personified country is Russia. >.> And his relationship to Belarus.

There's too much yaoi for me to take it seriously.

If Hetalia explicitly said "This is based off History" It would have a lot less yaoi fans... And for those of you who'll say "just ignore the fans", well... you can't. They're fucking everywhere. You can't mention Personified Countries without them squeeing over Hetalia filling you in on their masturbatory aids.
