Well you can buy a terabyte drive for your PS3 if you want to thanks to Western Digital. Anyway make sure you won't ever have to buy one of those. That OnLive idea is horribly horribly bad for us consumers in the long run. Disgusting really :/
REALLY? I though the whole FAT32 thing stopped you being able to get really big HD's in the PS3? I really need one of these!
Maximum disc volume for FAT32 is 8 TiB. However the maximum filesize is still 4 GiB.

Oh and I think it's just external drives who needs to be formated in FAT32 if you want to use them with your PS3. The PS3 otherwise uses it's own format. So big discs and big files shouldn't be a problem. Though I cannot see why you would need that on a console.
I've got the original Phat 80gig PS3 and I'm constantly having to delete old games to play new ones. It annoys me that when I want to play a game I'm not currently working through I have to delete old installs or games / DLC I've bought on PSN.

Cheers for that anyways dude, I have a nice 2tb drive winging its way to me as we speak. You sir deserve a cookie for enlightening me, chocolate chip.

Cheers dude.

2TB drive!? Mate, you need a 2.5" drive. I don't know if those are made in 2TB yet. If they are, I need one of those myself. If it's a 3.5" drive, return it and get yourself a fast 2.5" drive. It'll speed up your console. Loading times and install-times and such. The original drive runs 5400rpm. Get a nice 500GB 7200RPM drive. Should be plenty enough for you.

And I really don't see where you get the idea that the price tag would be what makes it more of a PC than a proper console- think about how much a PS3 cost at it's onset. Now realize that PC gamer regularly checks on the price for the cheapest entry leveling gaming rig, and usually has the price hanging from 450 bucks to 500 bucks. Now realize that a console is effective a computer now, that never has it's specs change. It'll get cheaper to make- that's just how it works.
I'm kind of doubtful the hardware industry is just going to sit by and let a few gaming companies standardize their highly lucrative IPs. "Never have their specs change", tell that to an Intel exec and see how he reacts .... They've built their entire business model on a tick-tock schedule, constantly driving a market for new generations of hardware. If anything, I think we will start to see much shorter lifespans for consoles; where revisions (slim etc) turn into versions with limited compatibility.

In terms of hardware, I think there is a push towards general computing units in the industry, something that will likely see a modification of the good ol' von Neumann architecture. Until that time, however, I think little is going to change in the roles of either machine. Certainly you can transfer some capabilities between the machines, but that's not really accomplishing anything, is it?

Until the performance specs of handheld devices are great enough to handle AAA titles, I think he's kind of talking out of the wrong end of his alimentary tract.

The PSP sucks (which is why I find it irritating that it has so many exclusives I want to play).

Few people not employed by Nintendo have any idea what to do with the DS... and it would poop itself if it tried to play anything more graphically advanced than an early gamecube game.

The iPhone is good for quick time wasters but nothing substantive.

So what on-the-go devices is he talking about?

Besides, I think his idea of gamers running around doing stuff while they game is a bit odd. People who try to multitask like that end up being crappy at everything at once, rather than being good at one thing at a time.

Well consoles are now just home PC processors, hardware ect. Gone are the mythical processors the NES and Sega Master system had, Now it's just a mini computer with a lot less freedom a real computer has.

Nothing new, but yeah why make a console, make a stardarized Pc platform.

In other news, Nintendo executives found hundreds of interns dead underneath their stacks of money.
"We don't know how long they've been there." Says one anonymous executive. "Heck, I didn't even know there was a floor underneath all of that."

As long as ISP's are uninterested in boosting performance levels without massive cost increases to the customers, cloud gaming is an absolute pipe dream. Yes it sounds all well and good on paper in a perfect world. But I don't live in Nintendo land ...

It may happen but not for a while. Although I do believe that Sony systems will outlive Microsoft's because if you add too many more rotations to the X-Box all of the gamers will become dizzy and pass out.

If Cloud Computing makes a massive amount of money, then I'll believe it. As for now, I'd have to say no.

I have a lot of respect for this guy as a developer, but he has no idea what he is talking about.
