I just finished reading the recent Hitchhikers Guide titled And Another Thing... by Eoin Colfer.
I thought that it was a somewhat worthy addition to the much beloved series but Eoin ain't no Douglas.

There where many things I didn't like such as the kinda contrived (but no less clever) way in which the escape the Earth at the beginning or the fact that Arthur is very downplayed or Zaphods second head.
It did however make for a very interesting plot that allowed for the fleshing out of Characters like Trilian and Random. (And another character that I did not expect.)

Thankfully, all of the bad things are balanced out by the good things such as the aforementioned character development and some really great jokes and references to Douglas's other works.

So I think that at the end of the day, It's really great read and if you can look past it's flaws that its just what Guide fans have been waiting for all this time.

Have you read the book? Did you like it? Did you even know it existed? Am I asking to many Questions?
TELL ME!

Asking questions is good but did you think about posting this in the Review section?

And the book read too much like fan fiction and there was too little of Arthur. So I didn;t really like or recommend it. Far better to go back and read the first three again.

I hadn't intended it to be a review when I started and don't know if I can move it.

It's pretty good for a fan fiction. I mean, Think of what could of happened.

I've read the original four seven times now.

I have blocked 4-6 out of my mind.

1-3 are A ok though.
Whats wrong with four?
I felt it got a little too random, even for Douglas. I really couldn't get my head around the whole plot as a whole, same with 5 and 6.

I have just finished reading this book and I was disappointed at how little Arthur was mentioned. It is more told from Zaphod's point of view for most of the story.

However, I did find it very entertaining to read and enjoyed it.

I also have a soft spot for Eoin Colfer because I love the Artimus Fowl books

I thought four was better on a second read.
Five was just sad.

I've got it, but haven't read it - I'm too slow at reading :(
I used to have that problem. Try listening the audio book versions instead, Its a lot faster and stuff thats usually boring is a lot easier.

I recommend Audible.com for it.

Yeah, I've read the orginial five books a lot. The 3rd one is by far my favourite. I will admit the book could have been a lot worse but I think it just shouldn't have been written.

Perhaps. I'll have to read it again since my opinion was probably colored by it's simple existence. I really wanted to like it.

I thought Colfer's book was quite good. Not as good as the original trilogy in five parts. But for an author who isn't Douglas Adams to have continued the story is no easy feat, so all credit to him there. I didn't even notice the lack of Arthur really. It was different, fair enough, but not in a bad way, just by as much as you'd expect coming from another writer's pen. Good work in my opinion.
