Olivia Jackson, who served as Milla Jovovich's stunt double in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, is suing the film's producers over an accident that resulted in the loss of her arm.

In the complaint, she says she was slated to shoot a fight scene, but at the last minute she was asked to perform a "dangerous and technically complex motorcycle scene in adverse weather" that involved speeding toward the camera, which was supposed to be lifted by a crane before she reached it.

Jackson says the crane operator didn't lift it in time, and she collided with the camera, which resulted in it "slicing through the bone of her forearm and tearing the flesh off her cheek, leaving her teeth exposed." She also suffered other "catastrophic" injuries, her left arm had to be amputated and she was put into a medically induced coma, according to the complaint.

She says producers had misled her into believing that their insurance would cover any injuries sustained during filming and resulting losses, but it only paid out $33,000. She later learned there was no liability coverage for her claim.

Hearing stuff like this really drives home how dangerous stunt work is.

Jesus fucking Christ how evil do you have to be. This company is inconceivably rich and they have to be sued to compensate a woman who lost her fucking arm working for them. Like what tiny fraction of their wealth would it cost them to cover her medical costs. Is it more important to them than this lady's arm is to her.

They shouldn't just be sued for damages everyone involved should be in prison.

Agreed, and preferably that should have happened before the movie was released. More or less all the profit they got out of it they've already gotten, presumably with next to nobody knowing about this.

That just sucks! And now there is another reason I can add to why the RE movies are complete dog shit. They have the money, they're just that fucking greedy. I hope Olivia succeeds so this can be lesson taught to those bastards (most who won't learn), and a catuionary tale to stunt men and women working in the Hollywood industry.

Sincerely hope she wins real big. Whatever one could consider a "win" in such a predicament, as money can't undo that kind of harm. Another prime example of the benevolence of corporate fluffers within the "free market" exploiting whoever they can until they break, and tossing them aside without the bare minimum of having to give a shit. I swear an-caps must have a cognitive malfunction to believe in the "guiding hand" when this continues to happen wherever regulations are relaxed or removed. It's just another baseless religion.
