Home Shopping Network Screwup Shows Importance of Wii Safety

Watching some sucker throw a Wii Remote at the TV screen is funny. Watching some sucker throw a Wii Remote at the TV screen while on live television is hilarious.

I'm actually not sure if other countries have the Home Shopping Network (or something like it), but for clarity's sake: On the Home Shopping Network, people demo products and sell special bundle packages, ostensibly at better prices than you'd find at average retail. It's essentially a series of infomercials, and since it is broadcasted live, the format renders it uniquely suited to bloopers [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv5woNs9WRE].

Bloopers like the one in the video above. While attempting to sell a Wii bundle including 15 of those wacky Wii peripherals that run the gamut from Wii tennis racquets (as shown above) to ... I don't know, Wii toaster ovens. While demonstrating the system's motion control tech - and demonstrating the tennis attachment - at around 4:55, the presenter also inadvertently demonstrates just why you should use one of those protective padded sleeves on your Wii Remotes. It's cringe-worthy, but laughter-inducing all the same.

Or perhaps he just demonstrates why you shouldn't use crappy third-party peripherals for the damn thing that haven't been given the Nintendo thumbs-up. That works too.

Or get over enthusiastic while standing 2-3 metres from the tv... (...and he's a bit closer then that >_>)

I don't see why anyone would want any of those cheap and nasty peripherals. Although that was pretty funny when he winged the racket into the TV. Also the baseball bat add-on looked a bit dodgy if you know what I mean. Damn my dirty mind

And that video right there goes to prove why you don't really need those peripherals. I was confused at first because right before he hucked the racket, I noticed that the wiimote was tethered to his wrist.

Still, would've been funnier if the thing exploded mightily and tipped over, but hilarious video nonetheless.

For those who don't want to sit through 5 mins of crap;
Click here [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a07W2t2wcRA#t=5m04s] (the Escapists Youtube-embedder-tag-thing doesn't want to let me specify the time of the clip... hmm).

This is pretty funny. Poor TV though.

The best part is that the Wiimote didn't fly out of his hand; the weird plastic add-on flew off the Wiimote. 3rd party hardware seems kinda sketchy.

That was funny, but I cringed when I saw that beautiful TV ruined by some crappy accessory. MAKE SURE THEY ARE ON! PLEASE!

Why use the racket thing at all? Isn't the point of the Wii to use the remote and imagine you're playing tennis?

hey, heres a tip, don't swing so hard, its not an f-ingreal rachet- just flick it. and who else noticed they're charging about a hundreddollars more than the wii and periferals cost. and these people are such over hypers, not every wii game is a stand up thing, stupid HSNers. I'd hate to standup playing Mario Galaxy for a solid hour or more.
