Fraud isn't considered a violent crime, while bank robbery is. Sentences are generally lighter if there is no violence involved. Or, are you tying to imply racism?

One threatened himself to money, people were in danger, people were scared.. The other changed some numbers on a few sheets of paper.

Yeah... Totally unfair... Right.

The man deserved this, plain and simple. It is just how it is and how it always will be.

I know this may not matter to most, but the CEO didn't threaten the life of the person they stole money from.

In fact the only information I can find online points to a COMPLETELY made up story.

http://www.shreveportla.gov/dept/Police/2007/052507.bank%20robber%20turns%20himself%20in.htm

The robbery in question has nothing to do with this prisoner or anything. No I can't verify it either. But everything I can find points to fake. And nothing I can find goes with the original story. It looks like this blogger created this story and used the info of Roy Brown.

It happened enough for it to make it onto several news sites.
Wow that was a cool site

OT: he will be fed it will be better for him in the long run

The homeless man is probably quite happy about this. He gets 3 meals, access to healthcare, education, weight rooms, TV, internet, etc. There are quite a few cases where homeless people want to go to jail, so they will break into a place and just wait for the cops.

The only reason the jail sentences are like this is because the way the crimes are committed. The CEO committed a white collar robbery therefor his sentence is low, while the homeless man committed a direct robbery giving him a far higher sentence.

It's truly sad how much we value anything in this day and age. We value money enough to give wealthy criminals the chance to negotiate their sentences down to miniscule fractions, who then are returned to society where they are given the opportunity to start over, and even though that sounds good there are two major roads to follow, the first one is repentance which will forever be stained by the root cause of why they've suddenly turned a new leaf, or simply commit more crimes, being more careful to cover their tracks.

Then there are people, like Mr. Brown, who take only what they need, realize what they did was wrong, and will surrender themselves honorably for their punishment, offer no resistance out of what can only be interpreted as a completely honorable action of taking responsibility for one's actions, and he is given a higher degree of punishment?

Had I been the judge in either case, I would have put the CEO, who I would think would understand that (simply by being a CEO) all actions have consequences, and even the common sense to say "If I steal this, someone will come looking for it." in prison for the rest of his natural life, on the grounds of the danger that his level of greed poses to the ruined economy, as well as the general public's well-being as a whole. Where as I would have personally bought a lunch for the homeless man, hell, I'd have bought him lunch and helped him find a decent-paying job! That sounds like something Jesus'd do.

By all means follow those links and find me a news source (not a blog or a re-post) A direct copy paste is not a news source. An actual quoted, researched, or sourced article. I haven't found any in the first SEVERAL pages of google search. So I'll happily "let you google that for me". Because all there is. Is twitter like feeds, facebook, and blogs.
the first ones a lawyers blog

In jail you can get $15 for $100? Wow that's a bad deal.

Yay corporate america! More rights than actual people since 1776!

I can't judge till I know ALL of the Info.
That is all the info.

And it's really just a specific example highlighting the over-arcing problem. It has been the case for a long time that corporations and the rich get away with everything, when the poor get away with nothing.

Lawyers are revolting, their job is to help find the truth, not warp the truth to get their guilty client off/a reduced sentence.

I hope the guy gets enough media attention and gets an early probation.
I think you mean parole.
Apparently this 'isn't' all the info; considering the story appears to be fictional. Rendering the entire topic moot.

Anyone stop to think that maybe prison is good for the homeless guy?
In prison he'll be fed and have somewhere to sleep, hell prison life might even be an upgrade for the guy. Pretty sure the million-dollar fraudster will feel like he's in hell for his brief stint in prison.

Well, first, you have to learn how to type "HOMELESS".
Next, you have to accept that what you wish for is rather impossible.
Finally, you must accept that this is always going to happen.
SUPRISE!!! WELCOME TO REALITY!!!

Which dosen't lend any credence whatsoever to it being true. A lawyer saw the story on the internet same as everyone else and wrote a commentary.

From what I've gleaned so far from what I've managed to find; I'm going with this article as being fabricated...like so many others.

For what reason? Anti-establishment? Shrugs.
