I'm sorry but i think your lying to yourself a little. I used to say that i would never smoke and I would never drink only last year now i have done both a few times. Its not that big of a deal you just have to be careful how you use em and if you do get drunk NEVER drive. I could be wrong and you might never do these things but don't think badly of yourself if you do but if you don't hell more power to you.
I'm not lying to myself. I will not drink alcohol. It's that simple. I have reasons for this choice, and I will stick to it. I've grown up with alcoholics, and seen how it can destroy a family. I'm not going to put that stress on anyone else.

I was 18. It was at Karaoke. We smuggled raspberry vodka into it. I kept drinking it, feeling nothing as usual. Then suddenly WHOA WUT I'M RAINBOW 6 LOLLLLL THE ROOMZ SPINNIN OH HIII HUGZ N HI FIVEZ!!! HAHAHA. Then the next day, I had a hangover till 7:00 pm. It was a... rite of passage, as my English professor would have said.

The last time I got drunk was when I was pre-drinking to go to a club. I ended up drinking too much then, and was smashed before we even went. I hardly remember the limo ride there. I remember getting tired, and thinking, "I'm tired... I could use red bull... Hey... Jaeger-bombs!" The bartender poured me two instead of one for some reason. Maybe I tipped a lot before? I didn't have much money left in my wallet the next day... Nor did I have my driver's license. Anyways, after that, I only remember suddenly falling to the dance floor in agony. Since then, I've had pretty bad knee problems. An ACL or MCL or something, with a piece of bone ripped right out. I still need to go see a knee specialist to see if I need surgery.

But I'd say it was worth it. Memories.

Yeah I probably shouldn't butt in like that.

As for pathetic, I see alcohol as just another drug like pot, coke, or other stuff. It just happens to be legal. I see drunks as weak willed people who can't enjoy anything unless there's alcohol. I've been to plenty of parties where once they find out there's no alcohol, half the people just leave. Mostly everyone in my graduating class was either a drunk or a pot addict.. And all of them were dimwitted sheep who never did anything if it wasn't "cool" I know it doesn't apply to all drinkers, or maybe even most of them. But its what I see in my town
Well you certainly have a very low opinion of your fellow man, or at least your graduation class.

I'll use myself as an example, as I don't think I'm "pathetic" in any sort of way. Partying is about alcohol, to me. I might as well be frank. I don't require being wasted, but I do require it to be possible.

I don't do anything for anyone other than me.

Alcohol helps you loosen up, really boosts your confidence and takes away boundaries. It's fun. It's not something I do throughout the week, but on the weekends. I've done pot, coke and "other stuff" as well, and neither of those because they "were cool". I just want to try life; see what it has to offer.

I've had some of the most fun times of my life when I've been drunk, because the drunkeness of myself and others have led to some incredibly hilarious situations in hindsight. At first you think "Holy shit, I did what????" and maybe feel an ounce of regret... Soon you can laugh about it, and enjoy how much you aren't bound to the rules and norms of society.
EDIT: What has been said has been said. That was a poor wording. I meant to say something like "Soon you can laugh about it, and enjoy how you are still able to distance yourself from your every-day, and do something out of the ordinary.

Also, you will go to a bar to pick up women with you mates, and not get drunk? What???

I wasn't intending to judge, why so aggressive? I was simply stating from personal experience that constantly going out and getting shitfaced hammered is a bad idea, but like you said, if there's something to celebrate or whatnot then sometimes you just let loose and don't care.

At the same time what one person considers "getting hammered" is probably a quiet evening to someone else.
I wasn't being aggressive, didn't you see the smiley? Come on, I included it for that very reason!

Well, to you it may seem like a bad idea, but you can really test yourself and see how long you can go. I remember when I graduated high school - I went out for 8 days straight, probably a combined 40 hours of sleep, averaging at 5 a night(which was sometimes day). That was celebratory, yes.

I would advice against getting shitfaced every time you are drunk as well, although it can be very funny, and in my younger years I did little but that. I'd say you have to experience it, but that again I'd say that about just anything, so maybe I'm the wrong guy.

Also, "getting hammered" can only mean getting hammered. It doesn't matter how much you can drink - we are talking about a level of drunk, the one where you're fucking hammered. I don't think anyone stays at home, and have a quiet night while being fucking hammered. ;)

You seem to be under the impression that if you drink any alcohol you will become an alcholic. I'm sorry but thats just stupid. You can still drink alcohol just in moderation and not be an idiot when you use it. God dammit your makin me sound like a parent...

I haven't been drunk. I exercise and workout a lot and I see drinking as basically willingly destroying everything I'm trying to achieve, so I don't do it. Besides, the taste of beer is disgusting!.

The closest I have been to drunk is feeling tired :/

Ah I apologise, I didn't notice the smiley. ^_^

Anyways I was gonna say something but what you've said to me, along with your reply to the other dude you quoted, pretty much sums up my entire opinion when it comes to drinking. I've experienced it all at this stage, the quiet drinks, the getting hammered, the getting off your tits shitfaced so I know what I like and what I can handle. The shitfaced should definitly be done at least once just for the experience of it all.

Is it just me or do the people on this site have a very VERY negative view of alcohol that they've acquired from seeing OTHER people? You shouldn't think just because that's what happens to other people, that's what's gonna happen to you. I used to think that very same thing and I was completely wrong, hell starting to drink was the best thing that I've ever done for my social life. And NO that doesn't mean I'm a raging alcoholic and it doesn't mean that I need to drink to enjoy myself. It means that I can go out with my mates, have a great time, a fantastic laugh and stop worrying so much about.........well, everything.

I'm not under that impression. I do know that alcoholism can be inherited though. No reason to even take the risk the way I see it.

I'm with this dude... and the reason is because of the OP. Why would I ever not want to have control of my actions like that?
That's exactly the reason I don't get drunk.
I never do not want to be not in control of myself.
So no illegal drugs and no booze (A glass of wine ever now and again, but that's it).
Plus I've seen what alcoholism can do, and I'd rather not have any part of it.
It's a 'luxury' I can do without.

Only one more thing to ask:
Drunk or REALLY drunk?
Since there are (at least) five stages of drunk, choose wich one:
1. - "Last night was awesome. I really had fun."
2. - "Last night was awesome. I really had fun. Friggin' hangover."
3. - "Last night was awesome. At least what I remember. Friggin' hangover"
4. - "I will never, ever, do that again. I'd rather put my balls into- uaargh*puke*."
5. - "WTF? Who are you? Where are my pants? What? No, it's not tuesday, it's saturday! Or not?"

Good times.
Based off your scale, I've only hit about a 2. And realistically, that's as much as I want. Helps me chill, but I still remember everything. Best of both worlds.

Haha, freshman year of college, having never drank in high school. Got pretty shmammered off Kamchatka and Honey Weiss. The next morning I woke up more refreshed than any morning I can remember. Seriously, best night's sleep of my life. My buddy didn't do so well. I slept through most of his puking. Poor guy =(

Oh, and I don't want to go to a bar to pick up dudes. If they're at a bar, then they drink. I don't want to date a drug user so I wouldn't date any of them. And I don't need to be drunk to pick up guys. I've been finding good, stable, and happy relationships on my own

The first reason I would never get drunk would be the hangover.

Second reason is embarrassing my self, So I would rather not get drunk. I won't even drink alcohol.

I've drank before, but very been shit-pants drunk before.

When I do, however, I hope that it will be more relaxed rather than flamboyant.

We find ourselves agreeing. 'Tis a joyous occasion!
Also, I'd happily argue that people here are miserable little fucks(those not wanting to try alcohol, or anything else for that matter), but I'd most likely get reported for saying they were all balless virgins or something to the like. So maybe we let that one slide, man ;)

Ah, you're a woman.
Also I think we should just cut it right here, I mean you're equalling "drug user" to "one who drinks alcohol".
In other words: You're a lost cause. Maybe try not to be so stuck-up next time, and be a little more open-minded :) You do what you think is best - I will not cause any further trouble.

I with you on this one.

Like just last week, my brother and I built a fire in a parking lot and jumped over it with our bikes and skateboards.

It was stupid fun, but it was sober fun.

If you seriously think people are less because they don't want to drink a certain liquid, you're an idiot.

There's nothing wrong with alcohol, but whether a person wants to drink it or not wants to if their decision and you shouldn't think less of them because they choose not too.

Can you guess why I quoted both of your posts?
On one hand you say it's alright to say people who drug alcohol are "drug-users", and by definition should be avoided(Ie. alright to think less of them), and on the other hand you tell me I have no right to think less of people who do not want to partake is such actions.

Can you feel the hypocrisy?

If you look it up, Alcohol is much much worse compared to weed.
So yes, Alcohol IS a drug and if you drink it, you are by definition, an idiot.

So yes, the grand population are idiots.

Perhaps you should be a bit more open minded to those who prefers to conserve braincells.
I probably would have just posted your quoted part there, had it not led to me being reported by some angsty fool.

So you're right to say people who drink alcohol are idiots... You even say they are so "by definition"(You're an asshole), and then bash me for not being open-minded?

Roflmao.

"Can you feel the hypocrisy?"
