"Bland Animation?"

The animation is the most charming and cartoony-like animation I have ever seen in 3D animation. It reminds of Looney Tunes to a degree. If this movie was in 2D traditional animation you would take that back.

Well let's hope Genndy Tartakovsky gets to do another more better project after this. Of all the companiese he ended up with why Sony Animation?

I am not surprised. -_-

The original was an awful movie with a few funny moments and mildly interesting characters.

So to see that the sequel is the same, but worse does not surprise me in the least.

I mean, honestly, the first movie's main "moral" is "Actual Love only ever happens once, and it's explicitly tied to love-at-first-sight, and it never ever ever ever ever ever ever happens ever again so never leave your first crush ever!" That's just...*shudder*

Mind you, with Adam Sandler involved, how can it NOT suck?

Can't agree with you about the animation, Genndy and his team do good work, and I realise how jaded that must seem as I write this with a Samurai Jack avatar. The animation was super springy, characters bounced around and warped into all sorts of dynamic poses.

Also, wasn't the point of the first film that daddy DIDN'T know best? His over protectiveness was wrecking his daughters life, he fixed things at the end sure but he wasn't right originally.

Don't get me wrong, the first film wasn't amazing, I thought it was okay and I'm not expecting anything great from this one, but I defiantly don't think it was it was awful.

yeah liked the first movie as a nice kids movie looks like ill like the second as much.

I get that critics have to be critical, it comes with the job, but if you don't like a movie before you see it its kind of not worth you going to see it just so you can talk about how much you wished it didn't exist, that's what bob did and I no longer watch him....

"Count Dracula (voice of Adam Sandler) "

Wow, who knew that Adam Sandler was being voiced by one of the most well known vampires all this time? I always thought that his humanity was a bit suspicious and this revelation that he's really just the puppet of the Count explains a lot about his recent films...

I'm not a fan of child-friendly CGI animation in general. They want it to look kinda realistic yet the characters move as unrealistically as possible, the awful emoting facial expressions are so ridiculously over the top, their bodies can't stop twitching for 2 seconds, the characters never stop talking, the humor is most often delivered in the form of bodily noises, can't go 5 minutes without breaking into song.....

I actually liked the original as I have room for some dumb fun in my movie watching habits. And I have to disagree on the animation as well. I hate 3D ans so provided the 2D will look the same as original I believe it will look cute enough. Going by trailers it does.

I, for some reason, still adore Mavis'es character design.

Don't ask why.
So do I.
I know not to ask.

That doesn't really make sense. Liking the movie before seeing, holding your opinion until or not being interested, you're still going have your own personal view and all opinions count. Marter at least goes into a bit of detail.

Well, that does explain why the sequel's released now instead of during the early moons of Summer 2015... Then again, I did end up liking the first movie outside of "Count Sandler" and some obvious failed jokes/slapstick...

Other than that, I guess not even Genny's directing could salvage this movie sequel... Bleh Bleh Bleh!

I actually quite liked the animation of the first one. The rest of the film was sub-par even at its best, but the animation had a great frenetic style, everything was always packed with motion

I cannot remember this guy liking any movie for kids since he started here. I wasn't expecting a glowing review, but this one's just vicious.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to say you're almost objectively wrong on the character design front. They're all incredibly well-designed to evoke the responses they mean to. Each one has a unique silhouette, their facial features differ with what they're supposed to be like- if there's a problem with the films, it's not the character design.
