Disclaimer: Hi, this is half advice, half off-topic, but it isn't too personal or dire, so I think it belongs here.

I'm looking at getting an Android phone, and the money at this moment in time seems to be pretty solid for the Galaxy S II, it seems to be the king on many a reviewers list, and I can understand why.

But it doesn't have the greatest processor, highest screen resolution, ect, and I'm wanting to compare it with its direct competitors from LG, HTC, ect, but I can't figure out which models are the competitors, most of them don't seem to measure up too well.

So my main quetion is, for internationally speaking not just US (if possible, I am Australia btw), could anyone please direct me to any good phone comparison sites? Specifically ones good at searches.

For example. this site > "www.thephonedatabase.com/" seems great, once you know which models to choose from, but it will only let you search based on 1 criteria at a time, which is a nightmare, and then, only limited by the basics 'does it run android' 'is it an htc' ect.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards, Conza

Talk to people you know, you see a friend with a flash phone he may know a thing or to about phones and keep you in the loop.

Or if your antisocial like me, use the internet!... like what your doing right now... you know what I mean!

The beauty of the Android OS is that you can buy basically any phone and have all of the same capabilities (though 3d games and other intensive programs will struggle on low-end devices). If you aren't going to play games you should get a $90-ish Huawei IDEOS, otherwise you should get an Xperia Play. In most other circumstances you are just paying for power you won't use, unless some of the device-specific apps/interface tweeks or something are particularly important to you. That said, get whatever you want.
eBay is good for comparisons...has lots of search criteria, list ordering, etc, and probably the best prices outside of locked, services provider rebranded, etc, though be careful importing because of signal band issues.

I bought a ZTE blade (aka orange San Francisco) about a year ago, which at the time was a fantastic phone, having a high-res screen, a good processor and cost only £100 to buy outright. Now however, it is a bit behind the curve. But I had it recommended to me by a friend who did all the work researching the best phones at the time

You could wander into your local phone shop, make a note of all the models, and then search for each of them online. Then when you go back to make a purchase, you can have a play with them just to make sure you like the look and feel etc.

For me, price was an important factor, and I was never going to take out a contract, so I was able to narrow down the choice just on that basis.

The other thing is not to deliberate too much, otherwise, once you actually get the phone, you'll be worrying all the time about how maybe you should have just got the other one. Make a decision, carefully, and go for it

I always end up getting a Sony Ericsson, cause I'm addicted to having game songs and sayings as ring tones and it's the only phone I know of that you can add and use your own MP3's as ringtones!

Friends and people are my research. As much as I kinda listen to the people trying to sell me it, nothing is better than an honest opinion from a friend. I do try and stick with Android, but always check out other people's first :)
