How has your time as an escapee been?

From when you first started your account till the time when you read this, how has your time being a member of The Escapist been?

What have you learned from your time here?

I have learned that not every website is flame wars and racism, I've met some great people, and I've had a lot of fun.

From here I have learnt mainly that its not what you have to say thats important it is how you say it.
A well reasoned argument most often will be glossed over if you swear or do not type 100% correctly and people will just pick out those flaws ignoring everything else.
Recycled garbage on the other hand will be agreed with, especially if typed correctly.

Oh and people here have a waaaaaaaaaaaay over inflated sense of self worth.

And of course having a differing opinion on anything will get you flamed, however responding to a flamer will get you in trouble while the original flamer, because of how they worded their insults will get off scot free.

This, and that I am the scum of the earth for being a practicing Catholic and a Republican. Oh, wait, I've known that for a while now. D'oh.

I've learned that some forums are worth posting in, and that the faster you post, the higher your probability of getting banned. Hence, <1000 posts after being here for a year and a half. But, for the most part, it's been nice. This is the only forum I've ever posted in with any interest or duration.

In my time here on this most marvellous of websites I've learned things I never knew before, burned things in epic flame wars, talked about gaming, debated all night, talked about baseball and swung all night. I've met good folks and bad folks and wrestled with some bots, started threads, talked metalhead and at best dodged the mods. My I've had a lovely time, it's been a real gas, It's a far better alternative to sitting, on your, CHAIR!

But in all seriousness I love this place and I love each and every one of you (A little hard to believe from someone sporting a Rimmer avatar but I do, except the trolls...).

Well, since this was the first forum I came across in my first wanderings across the Internet, I'd have to say that, all told, if more forums were like this one, I don't think that the Internet would have the reputation it does. Seriously, this is a nice place.

Day 47 since we escaped the ship.

Its finally happened, the voices in my head are finaly asking me questions akin to the ones those crazy oxfam street people ask when they are looking for money for a charity. The other escapists are starting to look at me funny. Maybe they can hear (read) the voices too... Maybe its the fact that no one has washed since escaping. Who knowes...

This is the least involved/engaged I've ever been with any online community I've ever decided to stay with as a "home forum," and i've been using "web" message boards since they pretty much existed.

So either I'm getting older or posters are getting colder.
