How many beers ?

Well, what do you know, I suddenly get a call from one of my friends, asking me if I want to go the the beach with him and a girl, who is really hot and also, just a friend to all of us. That's a weird sentence, but I stick with it.

We go to the beach, it is empty and somewhat cold, and voilá: I take out six beers from my awesome-pocket (that's what I call my little bag I use for alcohol). I drink three, my girlfirend (who is just a female friend and I am not in any way in a relationship with her)drinks two and my friend (who drives) drinks one. Then we drive home, and gets off at our separate homes.

Now, after those three beers I am feeling somewhat drunk. And that is really weird considering I only drank three !!

I am 174 cm tall and weigh around 57 kilolgram, I should not feel drunk, not by my average
"beer-intake = feeling-drunk" scale. It just apparently affects me differently on different days.

At a normal party I bring, like, 12 beers or so, and normally I end up giving a couple away to some idiot who has no money for beer, and I still get drunk. Sometimes (actually more than often) I drink some booze that someone brought, and I get shit-faced and can't remember a lot the day after.

After this long and really pointless intro, I would like to ask Escapists (who I have come to respect a lot!) how much you usually drink on a night out? And at private parties? And how drunk you get.

4 beers, I'm buzzed.
6 beers, I'm talking too much.
8 beers, I'm drunk. Might not be able to stand up straight.
10 beers, I'm going to throw up.
12 beers, I'm going to have a miserable hangover.
14+ beers, I'm probably going to black out.

That's an approximation. Give or take 2 beers, depending on what I've eaten that day. I'm not really a heavy drinker, I'll go to parties once or twice a month. In between, I might enjoy a nice (read, not cheap chugging quality) beer with my dinner, or I might split a six-pack with a buddy if we're just hanging out playing video games or something.

I'm 5'11" 180lbs, which translates into about 180cm tall, 81 1/2 kg.

Liquor is a completely different ballpark, because it tends to be way easier to ingest way more alcohol in way shorter a time span.

Why does it matter? I guess it might be interesting.

if I'm unit counting I'm normally pretty stable until I've had 15 or so (so that's like 5-7 pints?), although I'm *clearly* very merry. It's normally a downhill slide after that, and I'll be hit with memory loss after about 25 or so (10-14 pints?). It does depend on the timescale though - if I drink 2 bottles of wine in like an hour I'll be sick and literally pass out.

I get shitfaced quite a lot, but not really any more than most students.

Factor in that you were outside. Being outside tends to facilitate drunkenness.

As for me? If I've eaten then anything from 5-7 pints. If I haven't eaten anything (which is always the case on Fridays in which I leave work and go opposite my office to the pub for about 6 hours) sometimes 3 pints'll do, sometimes more.

I'm 5'8" and weigh about 9 stone I think, (you do the maths).

Uggghhh man. I've started to get atrocious hangovers after drinking like 3 pints - if I've had a "proper" night out and mixed in any way then the next day I can't even describe it. It's only really started happening in the last year or so, and I've kind of started reverting to the first-year-at-uni tactic of purposely being sick before going to bed, but that doesn't help that much and is pr. rough in itself.

Theres been times when I got drunk off a whole bottle of vodka, and others when I just cant seem to get drunk.

Id say about 5-7 beers drank in quick succesion would get me to the drunkness I like to be at, with about 10 borderline hangover. Though some nights Im just...resistant to alchohol ><

It depends on atmospheric conditions for me - I've managed to go for 14 double SoCo and coke at the Xmas party and still be sober enough to a) seven ball two guys at pool and b) avoid the hangover next morning.

Yet at a friend's 21st birthday bash, I produced the bottle of tequila, 4 cans of Red Bull and got my mate to grab the vodka. Say hello to a round of TVRs. We drank one each, though one friend didn't like it, so I drank hers as well. The fizz, plus the caffeine sent the booze to my head and I was wobbling after 4 longer than regulation shorts.

Fortunately, there was a swimming pool, so I swam for a bit and burned the booze out of the system, before heading into the realms of summer sport in an English back garden. Launching tennis balls into the churchyard next door was never so much fun.

You'll be pleased to know that we're still friends.

I'm pretty much the same. It seems I weigh around 15 kg less than you, but seriously, my metabolism is insane ! I can't gain weight at all, unless it's musclemass, which I on the other hand gain quite easily. But when it comes to drinking, it hits hard and fast, but wears off quickly.

You are a pretty heavy drinker. But it comes with the student life, doesnøt it? For someone my size I kind of matches up to most eople at my school who are consederably larger than me.. I like it that way ;)
