£40 for consoles. Anything higher than that can bloody well wait, unless it's a top tier game I'm unlikely to get burned on. Though the only one that springs to mind are the Metal Gear games.

PC, £30. £35 at a push, but again, reserved for top tier games. However, Steam sales have made me rather tight, to the point where I'm going 30 pounds?! Great Scott no! I shall wait till it's under £10! When to be fair, I'm perfectly happy to pay 35/40 for a console game, yet on steam I will stubbornly wait till it goes on at least 50% off.

As others have said, it depends on the game. There are some franchises where I'm happy to spend full price (or even special edition price) right at release and there are others where I'll be waiting for an ultra cheap Steam sale or second-hand bin before even thinking about buying it.

If I had to name a top price though, I suppose I wouldn't want to pay more than $80CDN without there being some kind of serious bonus involved.

Does World of Warcraft count? Because I don't even want to math out how much I've wasted on that over the years.

That said, it depends on the game. Most games don't get even a look from me until they're under 20 dollars, but I buy every Bethesda title at release for full price. Essentially I'll pay full for games that appear to be worth my money, and I won't for games that don't. I'd give up hundreds if I could have my hands on Fallout 4 right now.

I can barely afford current new PC game prices (aprox. £30, though it's sometimes more) and only very, very, very rarely pay so much for a game.

Basically, I'm already priced out of the market for new games, really. S'not much of a problem; I just wait.

I was always willing to pay top dollar for a game but with the PS4 games being £50+, I'm far more willing to wait for it to drop.

If I could play the game, then pay for it things would be a lot more simple ... I played Haze and would only pay about £10 (come on, it's not a great game but it works!) and I had a 400+ hour save on oblivion, if I would have known I would put that much time into it, I would have paid £60 easily!

I would pay whatever I deemed worth it for the game. It really depends on the game.
Pretty much this. I was prepared to pay ?150+ for Magna Mundi... what a shame I couldn't.

Normally I would pay between 20-50?.

I would've paid north of AUD$100 each (over $95 USD) for the special editions of Mass Effect 2 and 3 - as others have mentioned, living in Australia has its perks, but video game prices aren't one of them :p

It's not a price I like paying, and it's certainly one one I'd pay regularly (those are the only two games I can remember paying that much for in the past five years). For a game that I'm not a rabid fanboy of, AUD$30 is probably my ceiling as I'm happy to wait until it's on sale.

I typically don't buy a game if its over $40. It varies per game though, and the ones I'm more excited about would possibly be the ones I pay more for, so I'd say that the MAXIMUM I'd pay for a game is $60-70 (Special/Collectors editions are overrated and not worth the extra cash).
However I'm very patient and even more cheap, so I'll wait months before buying a game I want, specifically so that the price drops.

I rarely spend more than $40 on a game, and when I do it's often some sort of special edition that I don't mind giving a few extra bucks to (like the Solid Gold edition of Persona 4 Golden)

Almost any game that costs $60 will eventually get a price drop, and a vast majority of them will eventually have some sort of Special Edition with more features for a lower price than the first game did at launch.

The last time I spent $60 on a game was almost two years ago. There's no advantage to buying a game at launch, so why spend $60 when I don't have to. A lot of the $60 games out there that I want will eventually only cost $20.

I'd say no more than £20, but I usually go by percentage of discount these days. Once a game I'm interested in hits 50% off, I'll generally pick it up. I've been burned too many times by buying games full price.

I'm looking at you, Space Hulk...

As games have steadily lowered in quality, I have begun to pay less and less for them. I hardly ever buy anything at full price now, only settling for 50% or more off (If it starts at £30 or more). Steam sales are absolutely invaluable.

Last game I got for $60 was Dragon Age 2, because I was an idiot that didn't read reviews, and DAO's good.
Last game I got for $60 that I liked was Wings of Liberty.

Others:
$54 for Skyrim
$45 for Saints Row 4
$40 for Pokemon X
$40 for Heart of the Swarm

The lower the price, the better; but $45 is about the average I'd pay for something I like ($30 for 3DS, $5 for Android)

I'm fairly comfortable spending about $40 on a AAA game, even if its a dud. Much more than that and I really start judging the quality of my experience. I also don't feel bad buying DLC for games I spent less on.

If it's the standard version - $50 or less
If it's the limited edition version - $60 or less
If it's the collector's edition - minimum of $100 or less (any price higher than that must be justifiable with it's overall content compared to limited/standard version/edition)
If it's a re-release (i.e. GOTY edition) - minimum of $40 or less (any higher price than that makes the overall price questionable compared to the original version)
If it's the digital copy - $30 or less (Granted, I rarely play PC games that aren't just Japanese imports... So, I'm probably not one to speak on that behalf... In terms of stuff off PSN, for example, the price I estimate still stands otherwise there better be a physical copy available somewhere...)
If it's a digital re-release - $20 or less (Granted, P3F was $10 on PSN and Skullgirls was still about $15 off Steam compared to it being on PSN... but, that estimated price still stands for me...)

Overall, if the price is justifiable, I would not be complaining [too much] until my subjective attitude takes over from there...

I'm comfortable with prices as they are, DLC is optional so I can choose to not pay and not play while if they just hiked the price I'd pay more whether I wanted to or not.

From a purely financial perspective I could swing $100 per game without any real impact to my ability to buy but I wouldn't be super excited to do so.
