The people at Know Your Meme, authorities on all things memetic, say "meem".

Case closed.

I said mem-me because it rolled off the tongue better and meem sounded stupid.

However, I'm pretty sure meem is the actual way to say it, so I pronounce it as meem now.

Shame... I preferred the other way, but I actually got laughed at for saying it mem-me once.

Never again.

meem is the way to say it, i think it is stupid and most people who have never heard it pronounced before say it anyway BUT that way, so i think it shouldn't be that way, but that's what it is so oh well.

used to say me me, but meem obviously now.

The concept of the Meme was originally presented by Richard Dawkin in, "The Selfish Gene". At that time, it was used in the context of a base unit of culture, an idea that propogates from one person to the next. Dawkins was drawing a parallel between how genes propogate between generations, and how Memes propagate between individually. Dawkins wanted a word that was similar to memory, and sounded like, "Gene" to draw the close connection. So replace the G and N with an M sound.

I read it as "me-me".

I'm pretty sure "meem" is the correct way to say it though. Just sounds silly.

I'm right there with you, guy.

OT: As others have said, it's meem.

Ya know what really bugs me about this word, i've yet to find a proper german translation for it.

Thus far, no duden, translator, teacher or whatever could give me a word on german for meme. Meme-Rage!

English has no equivalent word to Backpfeifengesicht, so I think we're even in that regard.
