How the hell do I beat the bell gargoyles in Dark Souls?

I'm at my wits end here. I was loving this game, right up until this point. It was challenging, but never unfairly so. And this boss fight fucking went and ruined it.

To clarify, I can make mincemeat out of one, and I can fight without taking a hit against the solo one. But then, when you whittle him down to half health, his buddy says "Dude, can I like, totally join in?" And the one i'm beating up says "Sure brah!" Then they suddendly gain the ability to breathe fire and proceed to make mincemeat out of me.

Is there any advice the escapist community can give me to defeat these arseholes?

If you summon Solaire at his summon sigh just prior to the ladder (given you talk to him just before the Wyvern's bridge), the fight becomes a lot easier, I managed it first time with his assistance.

That, or if you're online summon help (human for both instances).

If you summon Solaire at his summon sigh just prior to the ladder (given you talk to him just before the Wyvern's bridge), the fight becomes a lot easier, I managed it first time with his assistance.

That, or if you're online summon help (human for both instances).

Yeah, Solaire joined me on my first try, and we nearly managed to kill one, but they knocked me off the roof, and Solaire won't come back. Do I have to go talk to him every time I want him to help, or is it just a one-time thing?

I have found NO loot whatsoever. Aside from a new shield I bought, im still using the initial equipment you get when you start the game.

Between the bomb tossing jerks from above and the two dudes hiding behind planks below you (starting from the bonfire), there is a little spot where there are two armored dudes with shields. Kill them and throw yourself at the crates to uncover stairs that lead to a seller dude.

As for the Gargoyles, I upgraded my sword to maximize damage and I ran away when they were two. Try to make one spit fire, move away and you'll get a one-on-one with the other. Hopefully, it's the one with the less health and you can finish him off. After that, the other is hopeless against your mighty resolve.

If you are in human form, you can summon him any number of times. If you want to just get the fight over with, you can always get the Drake Sword to destroy them.

Managed to kill the annoying little shits! I ground some humanity, summoned two knight dudes, and then we all charged in and had an epic battle. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
