Recently I purchased the Island sim of tropico 3. Now let me get one thing straigh. I love this game. Every little thing about it is brilliant. As far as city building stratergy games go, they're not gonna get much better than this, but I am having one problem.

I want to have a full scale rebelion on my island, where rebels try and take my palace. I've tried everything under the sun, putting rebel yell on, making my island horrifically unstable, not allowing votes.

Maybe I'm just that good, but does anyone have a good way of making people rebel against your regime?

Are you wanting the existing rebels to attack your nation, or are you wanting a full-fledged revolt?

The rebels aren't stupid, they'll only take aggressive action if they know they can win. If you lower your military strength that might incite them to attack. Although I'm not 100% sure.

If you want a revolt, try lowering everyone's to one (except your soldiers of course, you want them on your side :D), and don't build anything that can make people happy, like churches, bars, or health clinics.

Note that this is based only on the Tropico 3 demo, and Tropico 1. I haven't gotten the full game yet. Enjoy your revolution!

The best thing to do is to treat the people badly: poor housing, unemplyoment and no human services (i.e. hospitals, schools etc). But also have your Immigration Office stop all emigration so people can't leave

People will begin to flock to the rebels.
At first, they will attack things like farms and mines. But if they get poweful enough, they will attack your Palace, which is like your last line of defence.
A usefull tool is the "Conscription" edict. It means you keep your army well maintained, but people hate it so much that many will join the rebels. I think Marshal Law will have a similar effect

However, if you mistreat your Soldiers as well, you'll also suffer a military coup, which divides your army and leads to a direct attack on your Palace
