How to Regain Thane Krios's Loyalty on Mass Effect 2?

So i was doing Thane's loyalty mission, but at the part where you have to keep giving thane updates on the where abouts of his son from a balcony, I accidentally got lost while going through all the stupid doors, and then I failed the mission because I lost sight of Thane's son. Well now Thane is all sad and now has no loyalty for me, and I was wondering is there any way to regain his loyalty even though I failed the loyalty mission?

It's not a problem I personally had but you can win back other character's loyalties by getting really high Paragon levels I think.

I may be wrong in this case but it worked with Jack after she and Miranda kicked off.

I think you'd have to reload an earlier save. There is no other way to get a members loyalty.

The case of thane is not like the case of jack/miranda or tali/legion.

The reason high renegade or paragon works even after losing loyalty of one of those 4, is because it's SPECIFICALLY programmed into the game "if you don't have enough pargaon/renegade when they argue, and they end up pissed, you need to be able to win them back".

As far as I am aware, nothing like this is programmed in for other characters, because (and no offense here)... they don't expect people to fail on the loyalty missions. And if they do, they don't expect you to keep playing afterwards, you just reload and try again.

Becasue with the jack/miranda/tali/legion thing, the arguments are not part of the loyalty missions, the missions are just the trigger.

So, OP, sorry, but you're gonna need to reload, so I hope you have a save from like, RIGHT before.

You have to reload a save. Shouldn't be a problem, seeing as the game autosaves around the time you have to keep an eye on that turian.

Wow, I did not know that the game continues if you fail Thane's mission. I assumed it would just be a game over. Interesting...

All loyalty missions in mass effect 2, and I mean ALL, whilst the most sensible thing to do, are optional. I'm currently running through it on insane, and picking up my last few achievements, but after this playthrough, I intend to run through it as quickly as possible, without doing any loyalty missions, just to see how stuff goes down at the end.

I knew the loyalties missions could be skipped, and I knew that there were sometimes choices you could make that would result in the character not gaining loyalty (saving the factory guys in Zaeed's, presumably after handing over the evidence in Tali's, etc.) but I didn't know that outright failure was accounted for as well. I was looking for a reason to play through it again, maybe I should try completing all loyalty missions while gaining as little loyalty as possible. Seems like they wouldn't all have those routes, but it'll be interesting to see what ones do, and how.
