How/where do you make new friends?

So simple enough, where and how do you make new friends (And girlfriends can be included in the discussion, not just platonic relationships)? For the sake of this thread, we're talking only about people you see face to face (not internet-only friends). Parties? Through other friends? Random luck? Shared classes?

Through other friends mostly. Though I am planning at some point in the next 6 months to totally sever all ties with my current life and move halfway around the world, so I might try a different tactic after that.

Anyways, usually through college i'm friends with most of the new egr department here at my college.(which honestly isn't that many people) I've also met a lot people through my friend that i work with and parties we go to.

Yeah well, when I see another rogue walking about I tend to extend a casual friend request...

Just kidding, I don't even play MMO's. I generally meet new people through friends at parties, how we become friends is generally by being dicks to the common factor, so either a friend or someone both know and hate and bonding from then on.
