This sounds quite similar to the whole G-Sync situation.

NVidia announces some really cool feature, but says that you need some really expensive hardware to be able to use it. So pay up!

Then shortly down the line, AMD will turn around with their version of the same feature, but guess what? Its free! (I mean, AMD's G-Sync alternative is literally called FreeSync), and it turns out that you didn't need expensive monitors after all.

And now NVidia is happy for you to use AMD's FreeSync monitors.

Thanks for fighting the good fight, AMD.

Aw, only GTX 10xx and up get the bennies. But more options and openness is not a bad thing, I guess.

I've tried a few games that have both DLSS and FSR, and while both have pros and cons, DLSS comes out on top. DLSS is just straight up magic in some cases, looking crisper than the native res image. I suppose that's down to being the more advanced and mature technique. FSR does have the platform agnostic advantage tho, which is nice.
