Humble Weekly Sale Gets Serious (Sam)

The developer's portion of the Serious Sam Humble Weekly Sale will go support the development of Serious Sam 4.

For those who haven't already done so, there will be few opportunities to hop aboard the Serious Sam train better than this one. The current Humble Weekly Sale puts together Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, Serious Sam 2, Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, Serious Sam: Double D, Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack and the Serious Sam Public Test 2 prototype in a pay-what-you-want bundle - and if what you want to pay is more than four bucks and change, you'll also get the latest addition to the pack, the Serious Sam 3: BFE Deluxe Edition, which includes the "classic" versions of the First and Second Encounters and the game's soundtrack, which is actually pretty rockin' in its own right.

Several weeks' worth of nutso destruction for a fiver is a serious deal (yes, I said it) but what makes it potentially even more compelling for fans of the franchise is that Croteam's portion of the funds raised will be used to support development of Serious Sam 4. Why these guys can't scrape together the cash to make the game on their own after more than a decade of releasing games in the series is a mystery, but I like to think that it's related to an old Croatian tradition that requires them to blow their profits on women and ale. And of course if you don't want your money going to debauched game developers, you can always direct it toward charity - the EFF and Child's Play - or into the pockets of the Humble guys.

The Serious Sam Humble Weekly Sale [http://www.humblebundle.com/weekly] runs until June 13. And yes, the video is recycled - but it's still funny.

Kickstarter is so last year! Maybe they don't need the money for SS4, but the more cash they have the better and they're just being up-front about what they're going to do with the funds received?

Already had the entire collection but bought it to give it to a friend and to support the development of Serious Sam 4, although from the picture it looks too close to the third one. I really like the adventure feel of the first two encounters, BFE really lacked in that area, it was just present day Egypt with present day architecture.

Yay I bought the bundle... I never played a Serious Sam in my life I hope they're pretty good.
You're in for a treat, dude. People say Serious Sam 3: BFE, is what Duke Nukem Forever should have been.

well I never played Duke Nukem Forever and I hear is a good thing I did not play it.
I never a played a old school shooter and by the trailers I think thats whats Serious Sam is. Even if I don't like it it should be interesting.

This bundle would be amazing if I didn't already owned all the Serious Sams I care about. I'm honestly tempted to get it just to complete my collection and help fund SS4.

EDIT: Went ahead and bought it. Feels nice knowing I helped fund Serious Sam 4.

I freakin' love this! Between this Serious Sam bundle and the Humble Bundle 8 earlier this week, I've gotten over a dozen new games I've never played before and sent about $15 to charity. This is a god-send for those trying to game on a tight budget.

That's exactly what they are. This is back to the roots of the FPS genre. It's just you, your ridiculously fast running speed, a personal armory worth of bad-ass weapons, and circle strafing until you're dizzy. No regenerating health. No ubiquitous vehicle section. No hiding in cover. Just move, shoot, kill, repeat.

got them all besides the indie 2D once.
but i sure hope part 4 is coming. mental still has to be hunted down. part 3 was alright but it lost the humor i loved so much in part 2 and the fancy crazy looking weapons.

While we do have lots of ale (although I think most of it is piss) and some fine women in Croatia, it has seriously damaged our prosperity in the video game section...but, alas, sacrifices have to be made. :)
