Explanation. A while ago on the escapist someone, and I completely forget who, to my great shame, helped me find a game I had been looking for since I was about 7 years old, based on only a handful of incredibly vague clues (like, "err, it had ninjas, and a dragon, and there were dogs and stuff")(the game was Shadow Knights if you're curious).

This is the thread where you report your great Internet White Whales and we all try to find them as a community!!!

edit: this can be about anything, films, books, games, toys, music, places, er... i guess people but that could get wierd.

It was an online game, like a flash game or something.
The main character was a frog, and his name was something like 'Rick O'Shea'. The pun was obvious.
The aim of the game was to move your tank kind of thing side to side at the bottom of the level, and bounce bombs around obstacles to hit targets.

I thought the game was called Rick O'Shea but no matter how I spell it, I can never seem to find it.

There was this one game, and everything is like blocks, and it's this giant procedurally generated world. Also there are exploding green phallus monsters. I forget what it's called, but it's an indie game, I'm not sure many people would of heard of it.

Trying to not be as vague as fuck, probably failing.

You play this purple dude that's like an agent or something, you jump shoot and get power ups and it's 2d. There were traps and stuff too. All I remember is that I played the shit out of it after a dentist appointment back when I was 7 (1998). My dad got it for us so I don't know exactly how old it is, but I've never found the case for it and I forget the name.

EDIT: Because I was stupid and forgot to say what system, it was for the PC.

I don't think so, but its been a loooooong time, so maybe?...
Thinking back, maybe the targets were black and white (as opposed to the usual red and white) or I could just be making up false memories to tie in with what you just asked...

I take it you recall something similar

I remember playing a game... I think it was NES. It was a top down shooter/scroller from bottom to top. I know it was scifi, and I remember there was a lot of blue colours in the first level. I don't know if your character was a robot or a person, but definitely a lot of enemies were robots of various sorts. Think Gunsmoke or Raptor in terms of play style.

That's about all I remember :(

...Alright I can give it a try since I have dug through my whole SNES collection and not found it.

It was an rpg and the first part of the game you spent in some caves, it was very colourful you played as a lonely male hero... And that´s about all I can remember about it ._.

My cousins had it... You play a little purple alien in a spacepod and it's basically 3D PacMan, in which you use various garage tools to unscrew the world.

It was amazing.

I used to play this all the time when I was younger round my friends house, was on a trip down memory lane the other day and this is the one that escapes me and its been bugging me ever since.

Old PC game... its like a 2d, side scrolling flight simulator, where you get a ton of different aircraft, take them off from a strip in the middle of the map and do challanges with them depending on the aircraft you chose, like stunt planes etc

Lords of the Realm 2?

It depends on how old it is. It could also be Stronghold 2 or Civilization or a number of other things.

PS1 game that was a dungeon crawler where you just have to keep going to deeper levels. There was a town where you could buy stuff out of the dungeon. I remember the equipment had a durability system and could break. Glass weapons were strong but broke easily. And your character showed the gear that was equipped(which I remember being really cool considering no other game I'd played had that feature).

Vague as all hell I know D:

Can't remember the game for the life of me but it had a sort of "apocolyptic" setting. Its an old PC game and in the first area you pop up in there's this purple thing that looks like an energizer bunny.

The game was mostly in 2d and you could move left or right, but at certain stages it would switch to a birds eye view. I remember there were robots and zombies too, and if you got caught by either of them then an up-close picture of what they looked like showed up on the screen and the game ended/restarted. In the "sewer" there was a slime thing that would kill you if you touched it, but you could use a jar to collect it.

Also a ship you could board, and when you did it took you to this place where if you went into the next room, these guards shot you with energy pistols and you would die, but if you released the slime, it would kill the guards.

Gah, can't remember the name of the game for the life of me, it had to be before 2000 cause I only remember playing it from way back when before I was in kindergarten. Its been bugging me to no end because no one in my family even remembers the game >.<

I don't have any at the moment, but not too long ago someone on the Escapist helped me remember Jet Moto 2 for the PS1 based on the clue "It was a racing game with hovering motor-bikes bikes for the PS1".

Could it be Wasteland? Or maybe even an old Sierra game...
