Come on guys, you can't convince a person who beleives in God that religion is false by a logical argument. The very nature of religion is to ignore logic and act on blind faith. There's no point attempting to discuss it. If an individual has accepted a beleif in a supernatural being there is no reasonable argument that can persuade them otherwise
I'm hoping that most of the people on this board are intelligent (or at least fancy themselves as such) and knew this already.
Now, if you could kindly run through elementary schools in the south of the US screaming this, I would be very thankful.
Next year, if people come to the university again with the "Evolution is wrong" signs, I'm going to be right out there next to them with a big one that says "I'M WITH STUPID" answering any questions that they may have with, "What? YOU have a sign." It is overwhelmingly supported. The literature and experiments are there. People have devoted their lives to this. Science does not fuck around when making claims of any magnitude.
I apologize; I'm nearing completion of a degree in Evolutionary Biology and stuff like that drives me fucking bananas.
When I read about things like non-functional eyes in some species of salamander I am also picturing myself riding off into the sunset, probably on a giant turtle, probably laughing like a maniac, probably screaming, "where is your god now?!!??"*
