I don't see why that would be a problem. I don't much like it either. Found it boring.

Never seen it, and probably never will.

It had some nice music, though. Hymn to the Fallen is some great stuff.
(It should be obvious I judge movies by their music.)
If that's the case, then have you seen [i/]American Graffiti[/i]?
Or any of the movies that Hans Zimmer is involved in. Anyways, I can see why you didn't like it as it can be quite polarizing. Do you just not like war movies, or is it just this one movie?

Never seen it, but I find that I don't really like many of these 'classics'.. another that comes to mind is the Godfather, I found that movie so incredibly dull.

I have never seen it, and have heard that it is historically inaccurate. If you do want to see a historically accurate war movie then I suggest "Tora! Tora! Tora!" Or "The Longest Day".

Then don't watch districte 9 . it filmed the same way lots of gore action with little story.
...
...
...did you just compare District 9 to Saving Private Ryan?
the film style yes the story no.
personly I think saving private ryan is the better film.
Film style wise, yes, I agree.

story wise, Saving Private Ryan is the mountain to District 9's dust speck.
exactly my point if he hated s.p.r. then they will hate d9

Maybe he didn't like how it showed some American soldiers as grizzled veterans in WW2 when they should have been depicted as really young twenty somethings in way over there heads...

That's cool dude, I remember watching apocalypse now and losing interest in it.
Yeah man me too, I sat through the redux edition and was left wondering where all the acclaim comes from. I got the themes and the subtleties in it, but I wouldn't watch it again.
For the OP: I liked saving ryan's privates.

Why is no one yelling at me? Why are you people so damn friendly?
Because as long as it doesn't have Gerard Butler or Zachary Quinto in it, you are free to bash any movie or TV show on here.

I liked the movie... some people obviously don't... if everyone liked the same thing it'd be a pretty boring world... to each their own ...

I think that Saving Pvt. Ryan is a great film, and that so is We Were Soldiers. I saw Apocolpse Now and it was fucking boring and the ending jumped the shark. Platoon is great. I want to see Full Metal Jacket.

Many people think that it's the best war movie but, I have to disagree. It's to much, GAWD BLESS AMERRRICUH and Brothers in Arms. It just isn't how war really is. I prefer war movies like The Hurt Locker. It's how I think that war is really played out (I haven't been to war, I'm only 15 but, I hear a lot of stories). Also, The Hurt Locker don't have a bias approach to war. The Hurt Locker doesn't give reasons why we are fighting the war, it just kind of shows what it's like over there in the Mid East.

Although, it is still fun to see movies like Saving Private Ryan and pretend that every veteran fought in some huge, epic, historical battle that will be in history books until the end of time.

Yeah. Saving Private Ryan wasn't really all that great. I mean, the opening beach landing was f'in amazing. But the rest of the film was rather middling. Though, I suppose that's because Band of Brothers ruined all WW2 films for me for the rest of my life.
