Well, considering the fact that the book was written with the help of Easy Company, I had better be a better representation.
OP: You got bored of the Omaha Beach scene? Really?

I watched the first part of it at my friend's house and I just became incredibly bored with it. I know it's a classic but I just didn't like it at all. Neither Tom Hanks nor Vin Diesel are very good actors and I found the whole plot of the movie rather unreal.

I guess what I'm saying is, how many of you want to kill me now, and how many of you agree with me?
YOU HAVE NO TASTE FOR GOOD MOVIES! (Needed to get that out my system) Well if its not your cup of tea, Its not your cup of tea. I cant kill you or stab you or stomp on your throat for not licking it. Hey what can I say I also know people who dont like it but they are all girls from my class. (Not trying to offend you, of course)

Saving Private Ryan: The first half-hour should be mandatory viewing for people in School. It is probably about as accurate a representation of what WWII was really like as anything ever put to film. Unfortunately after that first half-hour, it becomes a paint-by-numbers war movie with pretty much every cliche possible. Terribly disappointing second-half.

I do agree that "Band of Brothers" is terrific (I also own the box set.)

I also think "The Thin Red Line" was a superior film. But i'm usually in the minority on that one. People call "Saving Private Ryan" a snoozefest....

Seconded, I don't know why everyone loves that film so much. Enemy at the Gates is far better, in my humble opinion.
I diliked Enemy at the Gates. Little too much Deus Ex Machina. Although it did have Ron Perlman, if I recall correctly? That's an instant boost to it's rating :p

As for the topic creator, I like Saving Private Ryan, and you don't. Noone here is going to get angry because you want a fight. Find a different community if you want to flame.
Frankly, this community is mature enough to handle people who don't like something that is popular, Twilight certainly has fared poorly on this forum. Frankly, I think this guy has the right to express his dislike for it and not get chewed out by people for doing so.

Saving Private Ryan is one of the few movies I have watched over 5+ times and it's just as good every single time.

If you don't like it, it's just not for you because it did it's job flawlessly.

it your opinion even if I dont like it. I wont kill you...yet.
Try "We Were Soldiers" one of the greatest war movies ever and most accurate Vietnam film.
(secretly wants to roast mellows with your soul)
"We were Soldiers"? Accurate Vietnam movie? Greatest war movie? Dude, fuck off. That piece of shit of propaganda paints the Vietnamease as crazy kamikaze lunatics and the Americans as selfishly heroic going out to fight for their country. That movie was absolute, 2000%, utterly and only shit. A good Vietnam movie would be Full Metal Jacket or Deer Hunter. Fuck off mate "We were Soldiers" is a fucking insult to the Vietnamease and to all people with a functioning brain.

The soundtrack was cool though, Nick Glennie-Smith knows his shit.
oh sure the liberally built propaganda films showing all the Americans as weed smoking morons and the Vietnamease as villagers and hating the troops. what movie were you watching? If you actually watch the film it shows the vietnamease as actually stragically planning and attacking US troops on even ground. I know people who were actually in Nam and saw the movie say it was accurate, Hell LtGen. Hal Moore (Played by Mel Gibson in the film) helped to write and direct the film and I take their opinion of accuracy over yours.

Of course he does, but some of his comments have clearly been made so as to incite an argument.
