I have just watched Twilight.

And I think all the criticism it gets on internet forums and the like is rather undeserved. Sure, I won't actually recommend it to anyone looking for a vampire movie, but there are many things it did right: the casting was quite solid (even if the girl playing Bella did botch some important lines, and the character Jessica made me grind my teeth), the filming and directing was quite excellent (the camera angles and use of slow motion during the baseball game was superb), as was the music, and it fixed my main gripe with the book (namely, the pacing problems and the countless paragraphs Edward and Bella spend gazing into each other's eyes).
I still disagree with vampires sparkling in sunlight, but it's not such an important plot point to be annoying.

What were your thoughts? Did you like it or not? Also, did you reak any of the books before or after watching it?

It's a movie you can watch once. It was ok. But with all the Twilight threads about hating it, I grew to love it. Thank you threads.

Are you serious. I just finished watching it too.

It was pretty boring. I like bella though. She's pretty. I like how Alice is wearing UnderArmour when they're playing baseball. That's hot.

I quite like Alice in both the books and the movie.

OT: I like the movie for the most part, some of the lines Bella had seemed a bit stale, but overall it was enjoyable. I dont see it as a movie I could watch more than once every now and again though.

My sister dragged me to it. Not knowing a lot about the series before going in (but being assured how awesome it was by my 28 year old sis), I wanted to keep an open mind. It's a vampire flick. I like vampires from Anne Rice to Buffy to old school Stoker. So I was trying to give it a fair shot.

But really, I think the criticism it gets as a film is deserved. Most of the theatre burst out laughing at the (lack of) chemistry between the two leads. Lines that should have been dramatic came out comedic. The vampire effects were laughable. Vampires playing baseball? About as intimidating as vampires doing yoga. I'm fine with updates to the vampire mythology. The sparkling thing was a bit odd, but fine. Dracula wasn't killed my sunlight, after all, he just couldn't use his powers. Vampires dying in the sun was invented in the film Nosferatu for symbolism's sake. So I'm fine with the movie tossing out the whole bad-sunlight concept. But the actors couldn't pull it off. Every single one of them were wooden. The female lead was unlikeable and whiny. It wasn't that long ago I was a teenage girl myself, and while I remember being obnoxious at times, I don't think I or anyone I knew was ever that brain-dead. Anyone else thinking the girl digging the whole vampire-breaking-into-her-room-to-watch-her-sleep is a little disturbing? No one else seeing stalker-like implications here?

I think the film sends a bad message to impressionable girls. I also think it masquerades as a vampire flick when really it's trashy romance. I think the actors needed another lesson in delivery. And I think the writing should have been overhauled. It's not the worst film ever, but it's pretty bad.

You know, it was not terribly good, but it wasn't terribly bad either. I mean, it is pretty good for most of the crap you see today, but I have seen better.

It kind of rips off of Romeo and Juliet a little, but darker and more emo in some ways.

So I give it a 7/10. An average movie that I can watch, but not one I say I could watch everyday of my life..

No that one is reserved for Ghostbusters.

I thought it was horrible.
The nice camera angles and solid casting don't make up for the horrible story.

I'm not the biggest fan of Twilight(The books were shit on a smelly vagina.), but I actually have to admit to liking the movie a TINY bit. If only because it was so funny.
The story is awful, as it was in the books, and Bella is just as unlikable and made of some odd mixture of glass, stone, and skin as she was in the books.
Oh, something I positively hated about the books and movie: Edward. Robert Pattinson was nice in Harry Potter as Cedric. But Twilight made him look like some kind of deranged albino-but-not-monkey-man.
=.= The sparkling was lame, too. Bleh.
It's not a movie I'd ever see again(unless I plan to commit suicide)...I'm going to see New Moon though. To make fun of it while it plays and piss of the Twitards. 83

Overall...I hate Twilight. >-> My friend's girlfriend broke up with him because she wanted someone more like Edward. THAT, my friends, if impressionism at its worst...no one should want a monkey-man that sparkles and is somehow a vampiric vegetarian as a boyfriend. Setting up poor girls for these outlandish, mutated expectations. BAD SMEYER. Bad.

So I'm just waiting until they make Breaking Dawn so Ed can tear through Bella's vagina and miraulously rescue their satan spawn of a child. Alllll on camera.

Stephen King said it best, though. ^-^ He's pretty much my second favorite person on the planet now. Right next to Chuck Norris... : X

I do agree with some of the points. Some of the most important lines were delivered awfully. The most prominent was when Bella tells Edward she knows about his vampirism. He says "Say it. Out loud. Say it!", and delivers that line well, to which she retorts, sounding very matter-of-factly "Vampire." Seriously, I was expecting her to follow up "Like, seriously, dude". Then it feels like he's pulling her dead weight, since he does his little "I'm a killer" speech so well, while she just looks braindead and mumbles something that can hardly be heard.

I'm sorry for you, were you forced or not? If you were i am sorry for you, if not go kill yourself....
I did it of my own accord, actually. Why do you ask?
I wanted to watch it, thus I borrowed it, put it on the DVD player and sat through it.

The movie isn't bad, but it could've been heaps better. It's just marketed to a different target audience (Girls in their early teens).

I has the same thing she does somewhat for my hockey gear. UnderArmour is sexy. Especially when alice wears it.

I enjoyed it, though for a different reason. I thought it was so awkward it was hilarious. I can't even describe my reaction to the line "this is the skin of a killer", but me and a buddy of mine both started laughing out loud in the middle of the theater. I mean, seriously, it was HILARIOUS.

The internet criticism is probably overly harsh... But you know, internet, right?

I haven't watched it nor am I planning to read the books. I'm not too much into that type of fiction, really.

But it probably has at least some good points.
I'm with Gormourn, I have no interest in the series, but I'm not going rant about how much I dislike it on a forum.

With that being said, I heard the acting in the movie was horrible, but I've never seen it so I can't say. I'm certain it's not as bad as everyone says its is.
